They were not bullies, they only targeted snape and snape was openly trying to join the death eaters, a group that had proclaimed death,and murder upon all who dissented. Snape openly used dark magic against them, with no consequences... because dumbledore couldnt afford to send child soldiers to voldemort by means of expulsion... saying the marauders were bullies who got what they deserved when factually speaking they were just fighting a war already tearing the outside world apart inside the school. The marauders also regularly targeted other known death eater sympathizers, this is why lily could burry the hatchet with them. And if what the author said is trye when is his dudleys downfall due?
