forced? nah. I'm more surprised by the fact he's still not in prison yet despite how suspicious he is. I mean he knows people that he had no business knowing is already sus enough.
It was a gamble, really. If Noelle came back today, nothing could be proven, only that he was not very capable. But if she didn't, he could later find out if he had a hand in it or not, solving both of his questions to some extent.
