Have you thought about posting this story to AO3 and ffn for more exposure? I'm sure there will be people interested in the story there as well. Just a suggestion as you were talking about stagnation in your patrons.

You really can't one shot kill. You'll learn later. Generally, you have to be ridiculously op or have to kind of exhaust the opponents energy as it can be used to heal deadly wounds easily. ofc, this is strictly limited to this book. At least the logic remains generally consistent throughout.
