Are you writing him to be this foolish on purpose? He already knows everything that’s going to happen, yet he acts surprised. It breaks my immersion in the story. From the start, he knew it was going to be war, yet he acts more timid than Viserys. Viserys seems to have more backbone than him. His every thought is sad and gloomy. The poor prince—rich, heir, with a beautiful wife and children. The characters say he aspired to be king, but where? What actions did he take to avoid the Dance when all he does is brood over everything? If he wanted to avoid the Dance, he could have handed the crown to Rhaenyra and ignored his father’s wishes. Or he could have acted like a man and faced his problems head-on instead of wallowing in self-pity.
