Your numbers are wrong. If you’re doubling it’s x2 not 511,000+512,000 and the only way to get to 1,023,000 is if you do 11 stages not 10. If you follow my comment then 11 would be 1,024,000 unless you’re counting the first key as 0 that’s the only reasonable explanation I can think of for you ending up at your final number at 10 stages.
