It’s simple actually, you write something for free without expecting anything only to improve your writing and create a fantasy to immerse yourself in, you share it so others can participate and enjoy it as well; Then some random guy doesn’t like it because of various reasons which are okay but this guy does not stop reading and leave you and your story alone, No, He actively flames you and insults you which not only destroys your mood, but also the spark of writing. Critics are mostly okay since they teach for the writer to improve; But the flamers are not. 1 negative comment is equal to 100 positive ones, that’s how much it usually bothers the Authors. If the Author was under an obligation to write then he had to deal with it and move on but since this entire thing is just people freely sharing fanfics, they instantly drop it because why would anyone put up with it? Its like you go help a guy with some books for free and expect him to read it and at worst critisize you for the mistakes, but he insults and curses you and your books! Why would you continue doing that?!
