Yesterday's Dream

Taking a deep breath, a long-haired lady strode into the hotel lobby. She looked up at the direction of the ballroom, hoping that everything would be fine.

As she walked into the ballroom, a voice called out, " Xiao Yih!". She looked around, who was calling her? Who wanted to associate themselves with her?

A woman walked up to her, her heels clicking as she moved closer. Qian Yih focused on her face, pausing just a moment before raising her eyebrows in surprise.

" Xiao Yih, could you do me a favor?" Ai Ni immediately started.

Suddenly realizing that Ai Ni just wanted to ask her for a favor, Qian Yih quickly made her way to the toilet to avoid her.

Ai Ni stood still, taking to her voice instead, " Can you stop harassing Ah Long! Honestly, I thought that you were so pure, until that news report came out. Can't believe you're so disgusting! Still trying to win back Long Wei, can't you see you don't stand a chance? I'm marrying him in 2 weeks!"

Qian Yih stopped. Long Wei was getting married? The same one who said he wanted to marry her when they grew up? A big fat tear rolled down her face. Everyone in the room looked expectantly at her. She was known to be quite gentle, but it was her childhood sweetheart, would she get violent?

Suddenly, a laugh permeated the silence. Qian Yih wiped away the tears, smiling happily, " I'm happy for you guys! Congrats."

Clearly shocked, Ai Ni stared at Qian Yih. Was she drunk? she smiled back, seemingly unfazed. Ai Ni tried again, " Long Wei says that he loves me and he would rather me than you!" Qian Yih nodded, " Ok, anything else? I need the ladies room."

Everyone snickered, Ai Ni looked like a fool. Trying to get Qian Yih to be jealous? That was impossible, she had moved on. Or so it seemed.

Qian Yih secretly clenched her fists before making her way to the toilet.

She slammed the cubicle door shut, letting out all her anger. So what if you have him now, I was the first! She punched the wall. He probably didn't even say that! She slowly unclenched her fists, stepping out to check her reflection. Her battered knuckles moved as she arranged her hair back into place. She gulped, perhaps she never should have come. A bad idea, a horrible idea. She sighed. Once, she was the belle of the school, everyone was envious of her, life was awesome. Now... every day is hell. Qian Yih walked back in the ballroom.

" Look!"

Tall, mysterious and good looking, those were some words to describe the man who walked in. His sharp brown eyes scanned the room, faltering at the sight of the girl he once loved. But, he quickly moved his eyes to Ai Ni, making it seem he was madly in love with her. Yet, only Qian Yih knew he was looking at her. Ai Ni, on the other hand, had not even realized her fiance stealing glances at his first love, and was soaking in the compliments that her friends showered her in. Qian Yih smiled bitterly at him, signaling to him that she could, in fact, see that he was looking at her. Long Wei. The devil was back.

Adjusting his suit and tie, Long Wei made his way to Ai Ni, every step posed and confident. She smiled sweetly to him as if their love was real, what a joke.

Qian Yih couldn't be bothered with their pretend love and directly left.

The weather seemed like it was reflecting on Qian Yih's sentiments. Cold, dark, rain. She walked back home with the rain pouring down on her.
