Chapter 28 – Ridiculous History
"Whatever his job position is in this company is not your business. You are a guest or in a more direct way to say it, you are an outsider. An outsider has no right to know about my subordinate's position in the company," Daisy spoke.
"Hmm~ Is it wrong for a friend to ask about his friend? Also, I am not an outsider. My grandfather is this company's founder," Vincent spoke.
"It is not wrong but it is wrong to ask when that friend is busy with his work. We are swamped with work and here you are holding our staff from continuing with his work. Also, do you think that being the grandchild of the founder gives you the right to disturb our work?" Daisy replied.
"Dianne is the founder's granddaughter as well as the president's daughter but she did not disturb any of the employees in the company while they are busy working without proper reason. Friend? Founder's grandson? I don't care about any of that," Daisy replied sternly.
Vincent looked at Daisy and his smile never left his face.
"You are not working here. You don't hold any position in this company other than the title of being 'The Founder's Grandson'. Stop disturbing my subordinate," Daisy added.
"Let's go, Berry. We are busy and here you are chatting with your friend. A newbie doesn't have any right to do that," Daisy scolded Berry.
"I am sorry," Berry apologized to Daisy. Berry nodded at Dianne and spoke to Vincent, "Later," he left to continue with his work. Daisy glared at Vincent and looked at Dianne.
"Don't bring an outsider to the company. Who knows? Maybe he is a spy spying for our players. As a scout, you need to be careful in this kind of thing," Daisy spoke to Dianne.
"I am sorry, Sister Daisy," Dianne apologized to Daisy. Daisy left them without looking at Vincent at all.
"So, who is the chubby woman?" Vincent spoke while smiling.
"Why? Are you going to ask your grandfather to fire her?" Dianne shot back.
"Why would I do that?" Vincent smiled. "Is she your boss? You seem to be scared of her," Vincent added.
"Yes, she is my boss," Dianne replied and she glanced at Vincent and spoke, "Let's go. We should end this tour fast and I hope we don't meet another friend of yours," Dianne spoke begrudgingly.
"Sure. Let's go," Vincent replied while smiling. Dianne walked first and Vincent's face changed immediately when Dianne was not looking at him. The smile had disappeared and he looked pissed.
"Berry, wait up!" Daisy called Berry from behind. Berry stopped on his track and he knew what Daisy wanted to talk about.
"So, what is with the story with your friend? Is he really your friend?" Daisy asked directly. There was no need to sugarcoat anything because she had heard and seen the situation herself.
Daisy had suspected that they were good friends before but some kind of scuffle between them led to the situation earlier.
"Friend…" Berry spoke while his mind wandered and he smiled. "We do know each other for a long time but we are not friends," Berry replied.
"Oh? So, what is the story? I need to know this because I can see instantly when I saw him that he is not a good person," Daisy spoke directly. "More so now that he has some connection with the company, I am afraid he will do something to you."
Since Berry was working under her, Daisy was concerned about what had happened. Although she went hard against Vincent earlier, she was still worried about Vincent's connection. He was the founder's grandson and the founders had a lot of power in the company.
Berry walked forward and Daisy walked by his side. She was waiting for Berry to tell her the story between them.
"Hmm…" Berry was thinking where to start. "We know each other since elementary school. By chance, throughout our school life, we ended up in the same school and the same class from elementary school to middle school to high school," Berry started.
"So, you guys are childhood friends," Daisy nodded.
"No. We are not friends. Although we are always in the same school and class, we are not friends. In elementary school, we are just classmates who are not close with each other," Berry continued.
"He was a nice person in elementary school but become a bully in middle school up to high school and even now," Berry added.
"Bully?" Daisy frowned. Her mind worked its magic and a small conclusion appeared. "So, you are his victim. A bully and the victim meet each other after school and the situation is the same. The bully is above while the victim is at the bottom."
"Yes, I am his victim," Berry replied without much thought. Both were silent for a while until something cross Daisy's mind.
"Wait, something is weird here. You learn martial arts and can defend yourself, why let him bully you?" Daisy was confused and she looked at Berry and realized something else too.
"You don't look like you are scared of him too. You don't seem like a victim of bullying when you meet him. The victim usually is scared and traumatized when they meet the bully," Daisy was more confused and Berry smiled.
"Well… I let myself becoming his victim because I don't want my classmates to end up being the victim," Berry replied while smiling.
"…" Daisy was speechless and she blurted these words out, "That is the most stupidest thing I have ever heard in my life… Do you see I use 'most' and '-est' in my sentence? That is because this is seriously the most stupidest thing ever," Daisy spoke.
"I am speechless. Why are you doing something like that? Protecting your classmates? You can just give that guy's face a punch or two once in a while to teach him a lesson but you just let yourself becoming his victim?" Daisy was seriously dumbfounded.
"I do want to do that but his father has some kind of power in society. Once a teacher tried to stop his bullying and guess what happened to that teacher?" Berry glanced at Daisy. Daisy did not say anything and waited for the answer.
"The teacher was beaten by someone and not only the teacher but the teacher's family somehow ended up with some bad luck incident. Many people that knew what the teacher experience suspected that it was the work of Vincent's family but there was no proof to claim that," Berry spoke.
"So, that is why I did not hit him once before. I am afraid my family will receive the 'unlucky incident'. My family is just a normal average family," Berry added.
"That must be the reason the founder dislikes his father," Daisy pouted. "By the way, when you sacrifice yourselves like that, is it working? Did he not bother other students?" Daisy was curious.
"Weirdly, it is working. When I decided to become the target, he left them all alone and focused on only bullying me," Berry spoke plainly.
Berry thought of something and added, "A few of my classmates once talked to me in secret that Vincent was too hung up on me. It was like he is obsessive about me?"
"What the? That is creepy…" Daisy felt the chill.
"Some say that he treated me as his rival and felt good bullying me. Some say he has a mental problem or high stress and needed a target to release it and that was me," Berry spoke without much care.
"Now, I am a bit scare if he will do something to me," Daisy frowned.
"As long as I am here, he will focus on me first," Berry smiled.
"…" Daisy was speechless and she stared at Berry with confusion too. "You do not mind him bullying you?" Daisy asked.
"I don't mind it, and it is not that bad. Most of the time, Vincent asked me to do stuff for him. As long as it is something morally and legally fine, I will do it for him," Berry spoke.
"How about he asked you to do something wrong? Morally wrong and legally wrong?" Daisy asked.
"I will refuse to do it. Vincent asked me to do a lot of bad things many times but I refused to do that and in turn got beat instead by him," Berry smiled.
"You! How can you smile when he beat you?" Daisy was concerned.
"Because it is not painful. When he hit me, I pretend to get hurt when in truth, I evade his hit," Berry smiled. "As long as he sees me in pain, he will stop hitting me. So, a few minutes of acting is enough to satisfy him."
"You and that guy are both psycho…" Daisy blurted. She was speechless and wondered how the teenage world had changed so much.
"It will be good if you can apply this method in the game but that will be impossible," Daisy mumbled out of nowhere.
If Berry could fake to receive damage in real life, he might be able to do it in the game too. However, in dodgeball, a hit even if it was not painful was a direct hit unless the defender caught the ball.
"I don't think you should continue like this. Just gather solid evidence and strike him at full force. If you keep acting like this, the guy will think that everything he did is right and he will keep doing it," Daisy gave her advice.
"If I am to do that, will Sister Daisy help me?" Berry asked.
"Oh?" Daisy was surprised.
Thank you~
Sorry, I hope everyone understands why there is less dodgeball action at the moment. Since I make Berry a character who is not interested in games at the beginning, so, there will be less dodgeball action in the beginning.
