Chapter 30 – Elven Settlement.

After my little encounter with that elven child and spirits, I've began running through the forest.

I did ended up learning a lot from them, but I also found out that they also made a bit of mess and the elves are looking for them.

Right now, I'm forced to end my training and find a new safe spot.

For fuck's sake.

I'm grateful for encountering that sprit and the girl for giving me some info and all, but the fuck I need to move as soon as I found a perfect spot for my training?!

Well, at least I managed to discover what the hell was that weird feeling.

Apparently, it was a warding barrier that was placed in order to scare off the monsters from the settlement, but apparently it will not work on me.

Well, no surprise there.

If it can only scare-

(Wait a second.)

(If that ward is meant to scare off the monsters from approaching the settlement, then what would happened if I destroy it?)

(Let's not do that.)

(I don't know how magic work exactly and I don't know how exactly this ward works. Do they place around some sort of shamanic totems or something or maybe they have a magic orb inside settlement creating the ward?)

(Let's say that I somehow destroy it.)

(Wouldn't the elves notice instantly or something and see me, the culprit?)

(Nope. Too risky.)

(Let's not mess with that ward at all for safety.)

Deerwolf quickly hid behind the tree and hid its mana as a group of elves came running.

After a stopping for a moment and talking about something, the elves then immediately began running once again.

(FUCK ME!)

(They almost saw me!)

(Still, those elves are heading elven girl direction.)

(Some time already passed after we split off and that girl should be able to get out of the forest soon.)

(But will the elves chase her outside the forest?)

(Well, it's not my problem.)

(I cannot worry about her life right now while I have to worry about myself right now.)

 (Still, those elves were quite fast.)

(They weren't exactly running, but instead they were making leaps above the ground.)

(I did sensed some mana in play.)

(Some magic? Or maybe a skill?)

(Either way, I think they were going at full speed just now.)

(Good.)

(With that speed I should be able to outrun them.)

(But still.)

(Considering the fact that I just saw some elves just now means that I will end up encounter more elven pursuers from now on.)

(I have to slow down a bit and focus on mana detection right now while running in order know when the elves would be getting near me.)

After these elves left the area, I once again began running through the forest.

Not going at full speed and focusing on detection was good choice.

I managed to avoided 2 more groups of elves without being noticed.

Beside the elves, there was nothing much.

I think I finally entered the ward the usually range, since I wasn't encounter any monsters along the way and the feeling was way more noticeable than before.

I did encounter some animals and I did hunted some of them to fill my stomach.

There was no much of a problem, beside the fact that I could not train at all.

For the rest of the day, I ended up pretty much traveling and avoiding elves.

Night came.

I though about resting, but then I decided to screw it and continue running.

However, while running, I ended up discovering something.

(I don't think I was noticed.)

(Houses.)

(The lights are off and I don't see anybody outside.)

(There is not a lot of houses…. Am I in the outskirts of the elven settlement by any chance?)

(Huh. I though I would encounter it tomorrow or day after tomorrow.)

(Well, there is also option that are just some random houses that are nowhere near the elven settlement.)

(There are no dangerous animals living here and the ward is keeping monsters away.)

SHOULD I EAT THEM WHILE THEY SLEEP?

(I really wander what the elven flesh taste like.)

(But its too risky and stupid idea to attack.)

(A monster appeared in their settlement even though the ward is active and had eaten several people.)

(It will put them in state of panic and they would look for me in order to get rid off me.)

(It's better if I kill an elf that is nowhere near any of their buildings and settlement.)

I tried going around those building, but then I ended up bumping into some more and then again tried going around and again I bumped again.

…Well, third is time is a charm?

And that was a freaking lie.

I ended up discovering the elven settlement.

(That patrol just now almost found me.)

(If I didn't hid in time those elves would have seen me.)

(Fuck me. I was trying not to go near the settlement, but instead I ended up going straight at it?!)

(What kind of bullshit luck is this?!)

Deerwolf quickly hid in a bush as a random drunk elf walked by.

(Is he gone?)

(Fuck me.)

(Why I'm even staying here for anyway?!)

(Its good thing that I found their settlement since I now know where I shouldn't go.)

(BUT WHAT CRAP DOES IT MATTER WHEN I'M LITERRLY HERE?!)

I ended up going the way I came from and ended up arriving at the same I was in before.

However, as I tried going in the different directions this time I saw it.

It was a group of elves going in the middles of the night carrying a lot of torches.

"!"

(SHIT! HIDE!)

(Why the hell there are so many elves there?)

(Wait!)

(They must be perusers that went after the girl!)

(Did they realized that she didn't went that way and came back to rest up after all day of searching?)

(Fuck me.)

(I guess I should hide and wait until they go away and-)

(Hey… Is that guy looking in my direction?)

(No… HE IS LOOKING DIRECTLY TOWARDS ME!?)

(OH SHIT! THEY SPOTTED ME!)

Deerwolf instantly began running after realizing it was spotted as few arrows were shot towards it.

(SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!)

(They know that I'm here!)

(There is no mistaking it!)

(That guy has some sort of detection skill or maybe can sense mana like me!)

(SHIT!)

(They are chasing me and some of these arrows even grazed me!)

(WTF?!)

(There are 4 mana sources that are approaching me faster than others! Not only that, but they have way more mana and one of those guys has a lot of it!)

(Shit! What do I do?!)

(Should I go into the deeper parts of the forest?!)

(The forest isn't that dense and there is a lot of open space!)

(I need cover!)

Deerwolf got closer to the elven settlement before jumping straight into it.

Several elves that were on the patrol saw the deerwolf entering the settlement and immediately began shouting something.

(Fucck me!)

(They have already saw me being near the settlement anyway, so I don't care any more if I'm running through their settlement or not!)

Deerwolf quickly hid behind a house as a projectile made out of dirt flew towards him.

The projectile hit the house and even managed to damage the wall badly, as if a boulder has it.

(FUCK! MAGIC!)

(But it doesn't matter!)

(Thanks to these buildings, I can use them as my cover against their attacks!)
