11 Chapter ELEVEN

"Get her!" she heard Emmett's voice ring in the air, and that was followed by a war cry. Amelia spat blood on the ground after someone had managed to hit her, getting herself into a posture ready to continue the fight.

She hit the students, one by one. She punched at them with swift movements, kicking and sliding on the ground to take down a couple at once. She was silent in the fighting, hitting them with stealth moves that had her attackers clutching at their bodies.

Someone came at her from behind, grasping at her neck. She flew up in the air, thrashing and hitting the person's arm before they finally let go.

She went back down, running towards the approaching students and hitting them wherever she could.

A couple of minutes passed that were filled with fighting, and Amelia noticed no one was going down. They were all stubborn, trying their best to get her down. She was already getting tired, and she was reaching the point where she almost gave up and let her powers completely take over.

"Oh, for the love of—Stop it!" Amelia yelled, using her powers to force everyone down on the ground. A strong gust of wind blew around her, the force strong as they all went, feeling some invisible heavy force on their backs.

"I can't get up," Ryker commented, he and the rest struggling to move.

"You and me both," Charlotte stated.

"How many times do I have to say it before you get it into your thick heads?" Amelia yelled. "I didn't do it!"

"I don't believe--"

"I will cut out your tongue out if it will get you to shut up," she cut Emmett off with a scary glare that did the job of silencing him.

"For once in your life, listen before you make rash judgements that would get you in trouble like the werewolves did."

Charlotte sighed, waiting to hear what the witch had to say. She had feigned going after her, but she wisely chose to not get close to her. She did not want to end up like everyone else around her had, even though she was among those who were pinned down on the ground.

"I know how bad this looks, trust me," Amelia continued. "You all know my history. If I wanted them dead, do you think I would be denying it? My main issue was with the werewolves, and those are long gone now."

"How can we know that you are telling us the truth when we don't even know you?" someone else pointed out.

As much as Amelia hated to admit, the guy did have a point. However, she was angry. The vampires had done the same thing that the werewolves did when they noticed she was a witch. They came at her, no questions asked. All because she was a threat to them, although that was true.

Amelia wondered why she thought it would have been different with them.

"You know what? I don't care," she said, alleviating her power over everyone. They stood up, gasping in relief. "Do whatever you want."

She walked towards the dead bodies still lying on the grass.

"But I'm taking her with me," she added, grabbing onto Mia's hand before teleporting away from the scene. No one had time to intervene.

"Damn it!" Ryker cursed, kicking the ground with his foot.

"Well, what do we do now?" Emmett asked, wincing as the ache in his jaw throbbed from being punched by Amelia. He had been surprised the witch knew how to fight too.

"It's obvious what needs to be done," one of the other guys said, turning everyone's attention to him. He was the same person who Ryker and everyone else felt tense around, and he had been the same person who got kicked in the sides by Amelia. No one had expected him or his friends to join the school on the island, but there he was.

"Axel," Ryker acknowledged the guy, moving to greet him with a fist pump and a bro hug. "Thanks for helping."

"You know I'd do anything to keep our fellow kind safe," he said, revealing a smile that was rather unsettling. Axel had black, curly hair that had currently matted to his forehead after the fight. He had a pale but kind of bronze complexion, with green eyes that resembled some reptilian. His smooth, defined jaw accentuated the features of his oval face. He could have been approachable to everyone, and he would have gotten all the hearts he wanted, were it not for the rumours that had gone around the school ever since he was a freshman.

"I'm just wondering… you know, with how human she looks, how does a witch's blood taste?"

That was all Ryker needed to know Axel would help.

"I know I'll taste power when I sink my fangs into her neck," Axel's next words brought a shudder to Ryker.

"You know I'm coming with you, right?" Emmett said, reminding them that he was around.

"It's a good idea. Let pretty boy join in on the fun," Axel smirked. Emmett briefly glared at him.

"Me too," Charlotte threw herself in the ring.

"No," Emmett and Ryker said at the same time.

"I've already made my decision," she persisted. Emmett went to argue with her about how dangerous it was until Axel interrupted.

"Oh, let the pretty boy's little sister come with. You know, she can be bait for the witch."

'That effing…' Charlotte cut herself off. Emmett looked at her, not feeling pleased with the idea.

"Alright, guys," Axel said. "Time to do a little bit of exploring."

The group of five headed into the forested area of the island. No one had found Amelia living in the unoccupied houses that were set for the other students who couldn't come to the island, and so it made it obvious that she was hiding deep in the island. Within the forest.

"That was smart of her," Emmett said. "She knew we could be coming for her, and so she made a good move by living in the woods."

"We should split up," Ryker suggested after many minutes of walking around the forest.

"Hell no!" Charlotte refused. "Haven't you watched any scary movie? That's how the characters die, one by one."

"What are you, a scaredy cat?" Axel teased beside her. Charlotte resisted the urge to flip him off.

"Hey, guys!" Emmett said, pointing at something on his side. "Look at what I found."

They found a house. Its exterior and structure resembled that of which every student was living in, but something was off with it. There was a dark aura surrounding the building, and it could be felt in the air.

"She is there. I can feel it," Axel said with a smirk. "Here, witchy, witchy, witchy!"

They all approached the building at a slow pace, wary of anything that might be thrown at them.

Just as they were a few feet from the entrance, the door to the house suddenly opened. Everyone stopped where they were. It was bad enough that the forest looked spooky around them, but the darkness that was seen from the doorway itself brought chills to everyone.

A low, chanting sound came from inside the house, not making things better.

"What should we do?" Charlotte whispered. "Should we, like, knock before we enter or something?"

Emmett, Axel and Ryker turned to face Charlotte with incredulous looks.

"What?" she whispered back.

Out of the darkness came a person they all least expected to see.

"Mia?" they all exclaimed in shock. The blonde look disgruntled in her clothes that were still drenched in her drying blood. It was a huge surprise that she was standing in front of them.

"Hey, guys," she said with a nervous expression. Moreover, she looked traumatized.

Ryker went to say something else, but the chanting inside the house grew louder. Mia jumped in fright as she turned to look behind her.

"Mia, get over here," Emmett said, and she did not hesitate to go to him. She stood beside him, holding his arm as they stared at the entrance.

Soon, a large cloud came from the doors at a fast pace.

"Duck!" Emmett shouted, and they all went to the ground. The cloud varied colours from grey, white, and finally settling on a pink hue. It parted and spread around them, decreasing in density until it became a fog of some kind.

From an elevated view, one would have been able to see that it covered the rest of the island.

"Let the spell take effect," Amelia's voice echoed as she walked out of her house. "I do not want distractions to interfere with this."

"What the hell did you do, you psycho?" Ryker spat out as they all stood on their feet. "What is all… this?" he motioned to the mist around him.

"In the meantime, we can settle this issue once and for all," Amelia ignored him, approaching Mia. Emmett stepped forward, blocking her from reaching her.

"Oh, come on," Amelia rolled her eyes. "If I wanted her dead, I would not have bothered to heal her."

She could practically sense the screws working on everyone's brains. Emmett did not trust Amelia, but what she said was true. If she had wanted Mia dead, the college girl wouldn't have been standing there with them.

They all knew this, but it bothered them. What bothered them more was the fact that Amelia had brought Mia back from the dead. She had been out hours ago, and now, she was standing as if everything was normal.

"Guys, she didn't kill me," Mia revealed.

"As you can obviously see," Amelia pointed out, unamused by the turn of events.

"Are you sure she isn't making you say that?" Emmett asked her seriously, and she could hear Amelia scoff at his words.

"So if it wasn't her, then who was it?" Ryker asked.

Mia sighed, opening her mouth to reveal what had happened earlier in the morning.
