Chapter 1

It was early on Monday morning as Olumide laid lifelessly in his bed, snoring loudly with his alarm beeping continuously. Mrs. Wole noticing that her son is still in bed headed to his room opened the door and found him still sleeping.

"Olu!!!" Mrs. Wole called out with her soprano voice but Olu did not answer. She then went to the kitchen to get a glass of water and splashed it on Olu's face. "Wake up; it's already 6:30am. Go get ready for school."

Olumide turned off the alarm, slewed to the right hand side of his bed and sprang out of bed. He plodded to the bathroom, brushed his teeth, and took his shower. He got dressed, packed his books and head to the dining table.

As Olumide ate his breakfast of cornflakes and milk, Mrs. Wole was in the kitchen with Bisola cleaning up the mess of last night. They had invited a family friend last night for a dinner party which lasted almost two hours with humor. The families had been friends since six years ago.

Mr. Wole came out of his bedroom. He was an average tall and well built man. He wore a suit of the specified type sober-suited city businessman.

"Good morning dad." Olumide said and prostrated himself.

"How was your night?" Mr. Wole asked in a solemn voce.

"It was fine but tiring due to last night sir" He replied taking the cornflakes as if he was forced to eat it.

Mr. Wole grinned lightly and patted his Olu's head. He called out to his wife "Kemi, I'm already leaving for work".

"Sweetheart, this is your tea" Mrs. Wole said handling the cup of milk tea to him.

"Thanks dear" He said and gulped down his tea and went out.

"Bye" They both chorused and Mr. Wole waved his hand in response.

Olu picked up his school bag and slung it over his shoulder, ready to go to school in his well ironed uniform.

"You've not finished eating" Mrs. Wole said with surprise.

"I'm not hungry" He said as he turned for the door. "Bye mum, see you later in the evening".

"OK bye dear, I love you"

"Love you too"

On his way to school, he met his friend, Adeyemi Adebayo who called out his name.

"Olu, wait for me". He said, a short and slim boy whose height is at the same length with Olu's shoulder.

"Ade, how far." Olumide smiled delightedly.

"I'm cool" He replied. "Hope you slept well?"

"Haha slept well kee? No I didn't, I'm still feeling exhausted due to the last night dinner party"

"Oh c'mon men, you're still a boy not a man" Ade giggled.

"So you're the man right? Dude you're a small boy, stops deceiving yourself" Olu burst into laughter, Ade became furious and made a chase after Olu who had sped off knowing that Ade would want to spank him.
