Chapter 1Chapter - 1 (Transmigration)

Ahh... It's painful!

My head!

Mukesh opens his eyes with his throbbing headache. His eyelids feel heavy as if he didn't sleep last night. How much did I drink yesterday? This hangover! Shit!

Attempting to rise from the bed, he falters, crashing to the floor.

"Damn, it hurts!" he mumbles, sprawled on the floor.

As the throbbing pain gradually subsides, Mukesh accumulates enough strength to pull himself up. Using the bed's leg for support, he manages to stand.

As the hangover lifted, Mukesh's senses sharpened, revealing the simple details of the room. "Huh! Where am I?" he wondered.

Turning around, he realized he was in a small room with only a bed, a table, and some boxes. Confusion set in as he recognized it wasn't his room. A plain family photo hung on the wall, and the air carried an exotic scent.

Noticing a paper on the bed, he attempted to read it. Holding the letter, he was stunned – the contents in the letter were written in completely unfamiliar language.

Suddenly,, the ache in his head intensified, and he winced. It was then he noticed his attire – a stark contrast to his usual casual clothing. Panic crept in chest as he inspected his hands, feeling the weight of unfamiliar rings adorning his fingers.

In panic, he rushed to the mirror, a whirlwind of thoughts flooding in his mind. He didn't want to think about it, but the situation forced his thoughts into an uncontrollable whirl.

Dark tousled hair, simple grey pupils, white shirt, slim build, and an average look. However, as he saw his reflection, his features were shockingly different. In horror, he screamed.

"I transmigrated?"

Trying to piece together the events of the previous night, Mukesh could recall drinking excessively, but memories beyond that became elusive. "How did I transmigrate? Did I... die?" Uncertainty lingered in his thoughts.

Suddenly, a sharp pain stabbed at his head, as if a needle pierced through. Unfamiliar memories flashed through his mind.

Eric Lancaster, Dhangadhi City, Sylvania County.

As these unfamiliar memories resurfaced, Mukesh realized he wasn't in a familiar place; he had transmigrated into another world, akin to the realms found in fantasy novels. This phenomenon exceeded his wildest imagination, leaving him standing at the brink of a reality that defied understanding.

Gathering fragments of memories, Mukesh realized that the language spoken in this nation was the Sylvanian Language, as mentioned in the letter, which he couldn't comprehend.

He turned his attention to the letter: the contents in the letter were visibly familiar.

"Respectful Father and Mother,

I believe this will be my last letter. Perhaps, I will venture far away after completing these words.

Father, I recall the lessons from my childhood when you emphasized that education is the most powerful weapon in the world. You used to say that even Kings and Nobles fear the pen and a notebook.

As the sole son in our family, you encouraged me to study diligently. I study diligently, from school to university. But despite my efforts, I couldn't graduate the university. Was it due to our modest status? I pondered this question silently.

Mother, you told me that I always believe in myself, but still believing in myself didn't make it out.

This world has the voice of rich and the hunger of poor. Getting an education is a dream for the poor, but a hobby for nobles.

I am sorry mom, you son had failed you. I bid my farewell and maybe in the next life, I will still be your son. Your son.

Reading the letter, Mukesh shed a tear. The words unconsciously stirred emotions within him. Perhaps, a lingering part of Eric's love for his parents still resided within inside his heart. Eric had taken his own life by drinking poison after failing to graduate from the university.

Reflecting on the blessing of having supportive parents, he couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. In his previous life, he was an orphan.

"I worked hard, saving every bit of money for my future. I dreamt of marrying a good wife and living a happy life, filled with the love I didn't receive from my parents. But... this happened!"

Then, Mukesh wiped his eyes with a handkerchief. Retrieving a matchbox from the drawer, he burned the letter and tossed it into the dustbin.

"My name is Eric Lancaster," he muttered, attempting to piece together the memory fragments.

According to the fragments, his father Joseph and mother Jessica served as staff in the upper block. His father was a butler, and his mother, a cook in a noble's house. Despite their humble circumstances, they managed to send Eric to a private school, a gesture that set him apart from others in the lower block.

For nearly ten years, Eric's parents supported his education—from school to college and university. The thought of them hearing about Eric's supposed suicide weighed heavily on him. Even though he now occupied their son's place, he couldn't become the person they had envisioned.

From the fragments of Eric's memory, he gleaned insights into the world he had transmigrated into. Sylvania, a land of beauty where people lived in socialized society but every beauty harbored a flaw—its highest population led to widespread poverty. The societal structure categorized people into three groups: the poor residing in the lower block, and the rich and nobles dwelling in the upper block.

Given that Eric's family earned in the upper block, he could comfortably stay there. Alone in his modest rental room, he could save some money for leisure. However, now inhabiting Eric's identity with the knowledge and mindset of an adult and a teacher, he felt that the problem Eric was facing about depression, anxiety, he can fade it out easily.

Determined, he wanted to amass wealth, a feat he couldn't achieve in his previous life. He will become a business man. Although Eric had studied in the department of law, he will become a lawful business man. Become a rich man and marry rich woman.

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
