"I was born in a place that I never left. With strange noises and foul smell that I never understood. Playing on the dirty floor with dust and rust and grease. Wallpapers ripped with blood-looking stains. No window to see the world, nothing to breathe fresh air. I got out of my mother's womb, but I never did expect that I'll be entering a hell-looking place."
It is another day for Maisie, "Rise and shine Mr. Sun," she said, looking at the only thing that can let her see the outside world -or the sky, just the sky, the five inches wide glass at the top edge of the wall of her room. It has always been like this, she never questioned anything. She frowned. Sitting on her queen-sized bed at the corner, she let her eyes wander around the room, fidgeting the flowery nightdress she's wearing. Seeing the dirty carpet beside her broken wardrobe and a tattered doll sitting at the desk beside the door. She could smell something fishy, rusty, rotten, it's foul indeed, but it doesn't seem to bother her anymore. She never left to escape these filthy walls, she'd never dare to do so, but it doesn't mean she doesn't long to leave. She used to stare at the big rusty metal door that she had never been able to open because there is only one person in the world who holds the key to that huge door. Her father.
