CHAPTER FOUR

Darius stood up from up from his bed. He stretched his muscles as he moaned in relief. He only wore a tight pant on his body. His chest were bare. He was heavily muscled. His biceps were large and his chest were massive. Physically he was a force to be reckoned with. He had a full grown six packs across his abdomen.

His eyes drifted to the naked lady on his bed. She was also awake but was shivering on the body. She wasn't shivering out of fear but of pleasure. The bed was covered with her blood although she wasn't bleeding from any where. He loved the impression he had on women. Hardly any woman would see him and not want to immediately go to bed with him. He however only used them as a food source but gave them the pleasure they desired in exchange. He sometimes drain the life out of his prey depending on his hunger at that time.

He had an insatiable blood lust which he couldn't gain total control of. He however taught himself over the years to gain a certain degree of control. He was a mighty vampire. A vampire lord to be precise. He had existed for more than a thousand years.

"Are you going?" She asked. He turned towards her. Her eyes were glaring with desire. "Yes" ,he replied, "but I'll be back soon."

"I'll miss you" she said. He shook his head. His preys were ignorant fools. They were gullible and Easy to deceive and manipulate. He wondered if he would ever meet woman who would be a challenge to him on bed. He moved to a big mirror placed at a corner in his room. The mirror was big enough to reflect his entire body at once. He put on a T-shirt and a pair of jean. He stared at his reflection in the mirror. His face looked young. Like someone in his late twenties which was contradicting for someone who had seen many centuries. He smiled to himself. The scent of the blood from the lady in the room was slowly intoxicating him but he didn't want to kill her now. She'll be useful tonight.

The hair around his neck suddenly stood on end. He sensed the presence of another person immediately in his room. From the scent he could tell who it was. Fucking watchers!

He turned back to face the creature. The watcher stood behind him. It had the face of an old man with big large circular goblin like eyes. The eyes were also green. The watcher had strands of white hair on its head and its body looked pale. It was thin and small compared to Darius. It looked like a harmless creature but they however were never to be underestimated. They were ancient creatures who had existed far longer before humanity and vampires came into existence. They were known to read the future like a book. Their sole aim was to ensure balance in nature. They openly despise vampires as they say are great imbalance to nature. They had a dark foe called darkers. Darkers were creatures of great evil. They didn't care about balance in nature like watchers instead they took pleasure in the destruction of life. They were known to derive pleasure from the torment of others and were a plague in the universe. They however hadn't been heard of since the great war between the watchers and the darkers. The watchers prevailed over them and the darkers vanished and were never heard of since then. That was more than ten thousand years ago.

Darius faces the watcher. "What the fuck you want?" He hissed. He despised watchers. They always liked things to go their way and never gave a fuck about anyone. Manipulating their way through every situation. They had the advantage of reading the future and so were very tricky and mischievous.

"Don't be grumpy!" The watcher shot back. " I won't be here if it weren't important." Darius wasn't fooled. Never fall for a watcher trick. " I'm here to warn you about something", the watcher said.

"What so we're now friends and have a truce" Darius said with a growing smirk.

"You're being sarcastic!" The watcher growled, " just hear me out first." Darius crossed his arms with interest. At the very least let him hear what the creature had to say before judging.

"I was going through the future as usual to check for clue to something that showed up centuries ago."

"What showed up centuries ago?" Darius asked impatiently.

"I haven't finished yet," the watcher complained. Its temper was flaring though its face was still normal. "We saw boldly in the future that there was going to be a great imbalance."

"What the fuck does that mean!" Darius asked again. He was getting impatient with the watcher beating around the bush.

The watcher growled dangerously,Its eyes flashed various colors. Watchers emotion were known to be seen in their eyes. Each color represent an emotion.no one knew what emotion a color signifies It not was not as if Darius cared.

Darius was furious but decided to wait patiently.

"The great imbalance means something is about to happen that'll lead to the extinction of a specie. This'll cause a one sided world. Everything in this universe is supposed to be balanced from good to evil to light to darkness. Once one scales tails above the other then the result will be catastrophic. When vampire came into existence there was an imbalance in nature but however nature provided a solution which were known to be vampire hunters who's sole purpose were to prevent vampires from overpowering the humans and killing them all."

"So why don't nature correct this one?" Darius asked.

"Not when a whole specie is going into extinction, especially whenbits through a planned strategized means, like an invasion as the humans like to call it, And besides there are some damages in nature that are irrevocable. We as watchers are helpless because eternal codes prevent us from interfering directly with the mortal world."

"So you just manipulate people to do your bidding instead," Darius retorted. "You all claim to be noble but you're as dirty as those damn darkers."

The watcher itched nervously, it muttered curses for some seconds before continuing. "If an entire specie is wiped out even you yourself will be affected."

"What specie are In danger exactly?" Darius asked.

"Vampires and humans." The watcher replied." However we believe there is a way out of this. For this to be prevented you must become the black lord."

If the watcher wasn't a powerful creature Darius would have chopped its head off. He was clearly angry with that statement. " I knew there was more to this" he said angrily, "you think you can beguile me to become something I've been running from my entire life."

"You have to" the watcher said, "do you think we are comfortable with the idea? Becoming a black lord gives you access to unlimited power fueled by the underworld which makes the immortal world exposed directly to attacks from those demons from the underworld. But we're ready to sacrifice that to ensure victory. But aside from that we also saw something the future showed us. The great imbalance can also be stopped if you join forces with a distinct vampire hunter."

"Alright enough of this nonsense!" Darius flared. It was clear to him now why the watcher was here. Everything was a lie. They just wanted to trick him to become the black lord so they could control him to do their bidding. He was tired of being controlled all his life. "Get the fuck out!" He growled furiously.

The watcher contemplated on his words for a while. "Think about it." The watcher then vanished into thin air.

Darius growled furiously. His phone then began ringing. He snatched and without even checking the caller answered it. "What!" He answered sharply. "We have a problem" the caller replied.

He bit his lips. More trouble. "What's wrong?" He asked. They was silence from the other side. " Answer me dammit! " He screamed at his phone. After some minutes the caller replied. " I saw some people, i wasn't able to compel one of them."

"What do you mean you weren't able to compel them?"

"One of them," the caller corrected. " I don't know how but they survived compulsion. No one knows if there are more out there like that. That'll be disastrous. When vampires try to compel them they won't succumb to it and then people will know vampires are real. But I'm working on it."

"You better do!" Darius snarled. " It took me centuries to establish this vampire community here in Atlanta. I won't have all all gone down the drain in a flash. Call me when you have good news." He shut the phone and flung it away.He shook his head. Within minutes his day went from bad to worse. He eyes went to the girl on the bed. His body went tense. He needed to ease this tension. She wasn't going to last the night after all.

Within seconds he grabbed her to himself . Fear replaced desire in her eyes. He must be a horror to look at." Please!" She begged. He smiled coldly. There wasn't room for pity in his world. He pushed her head sideways to expose her neck. His fangs then grew. They were damn long.

The poor girl screamed as he sucked the life out of her.
