Dominant. Bold. Ruthless. Drop-Dead Gorgeous. Ethan Howard was everything a man should be and shouldn't be... And she was drawn to him like a moth to a flame... After being dumped on her birthday, Emily Stone crashed into the infamous playboy Ethan, son of the rival clan's alpha. He was someone whom she shouldn't talk to let alone spend her night with, yet that was exactly what she did. In the midst of bitter rivalries and dark secrets, how will Emily deal with this irresistible temptation that kept pulling her back for more?
Under the warm glow of the moonlight, which made even stones shine like diamonds, a young woman’s silhouette elegantly leaned against the restaurant's glass window.
Emily felt the butterflies in her stomach running amok as she patiently waited.
30 mins! He was late by 30 mins! She swallowed nervously and checked her watch again.
This was very uncharacteristic of her boyfriend Liam who was typically a lot more punctual and attentive, though Emily did not mind it. Especially not today.
It was only a hunch, but she had a feeling that tonight might be special.
Their pack's alpha had announced that he was stepping down and their new alpha was going to be crowned really soon, perhaps even in the next full moon.
Since Liam was the youngest son of the current alpha, there would be the inevitable spotlight on him and the date he was bringing to the coronation.
It was customary to bring the dates to a private dinner with the family the previous day before the official coronation, something like a rehearsal dinner.
So Emily was extremely nervous. Liam was probably going to invite her to his family dinner today and she was unsettled about her response to the same.
She tucked the honey blond strands of her hair behind her ear and gulped.
Meeting the family was a big step and in all honesty, she was not sure if they were quite ready for it.
She also didn't want to rock the boat as their relationship has not quite been steady lately. However, her refusal to attend such an important event might just make everything worse.
She was caught between a rock and hard place, and it made her sweat. Emily twisted and turned her fingers.
A few more minutes passed in awkward silence.
Several people walked in and out of the restaurant, some even giving her odd looks, but Emily was in no mood to care about that.
She loved the man very much and she somehow wanted to get through this ordeal in one piece.
As she continued waiting, she fiddled with her phone, absentmindedly scrolling through her Instagram account, not particularly looking at anything or paying attention to anything.
Not long after, a familiar voice sounded near her, half-panting. "Hey. I am sorry. I am sorry. I am here."
Emily couldn't help but smile at the kind loving face she was so used to seeing now. She immediately forgot all about the 40 minutes she waited outside the restaurant for the man to arrive.
"No problem, honey. What happened? Everything okay?" She put her phone back into her black clutch purse with a thin string of pearls outlining the edges.
"Yes. yes. Everything is alright. Shall we head inside?"
Liam locked his hands with her and the two of them entered the restaurant.
Since they were regulars here, the waiter smiled at them and immediately lead them to a table, though they were well past their reservation time.
"Let me get that for you." Liam promptly pulled a chair out for Emily to sit in, being the gentleman that he was. He then walked around to sit on his seat.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he leaned back on the chair and picked up a menu. "Shall we get some drinks?" He mumbled, his eyes scanning the wine list with seriousness.
Emily smiled sweetly, her eyes not leaving the man for one second.
Even though she had been with him for about three years now, she could never get used to how handsome he was.
His black hair was pulled back and combed neatly. He was always clean-shaven, not to mention his fashion sense which was impeccable. Liam was one of the guys who knew how to dress.
However, in the midst of her adoration, Emily completely failed to notice that the man's eyes had not once looked at her properly ever since he got here.
He was rather more focused on getting the dinner going.
The waiter soon brought over a bottle of wine and served it in both glasses. Emily swirled hers and took a sip, the rich flavor of the wine calming down her nerves considerably.
"What would you like to eat this evening, sir?" The waiter then asked, first focusing on Liam.
"I will have a medium-rare, the usual. Hmmm... And bring the same for the lady as well."
Liam's words made Emily crinkle her brows a bit. She didn't like someone else ordering for her.
He already knew that but he still ordered for her anyways.
Well... Whatever... Emily decided to let it go.
She had squeezed her body into the dark red mini dress and had tortured her legs with the 6-inch heels, so she couldn't afford to let this small thing ruin the mood of the evening.
It had been a while since the two of them spent time together like this and she was very much looking forward to it.
"Umm... Liam..." Emily started to speak. She wanted to break the silence that was getting a bit uncomfortable.
Nothing gets the conversation going like a classic ice breaker. “How was your day?” She asked, a loving twinkle in her eyes.
Liam, however, sighed. He met her loving gaze but it looked like he was uncomfortable with it.
"Emily. I... let's break up."
