“Punish her?” Sybil asked in disbelief.

“You can decide the punishment. Whatever you see fit, I will see to it that it’s done. I’ve already banished her from the castle but I can also strip her of her title, take away her fortunes, burn her as she burned you,” Andrius suggested.

“No!” Sybil immediately said with panic in her voice. “No,” she repeated much softer. “It’s not my place to punish anyone. She will face God one day and then she can repent for what she did when that day comes.”

“But she hurt you, my dear, and you are a princess now. I don’t think—”

“I wish to show her the compassion she refused to show me. Sometimes mean people need to see kindness before they can be kind themselves,” Sybil said as she looked down at her throbbing arm.
