The jealous Anna

That night instead of sleeping close both stayed apart from each other on the bed. Where Anna was extremely conscious of the shirt that she wore, Regan was unsure about his self control. He didn't want to do anything to make her feel uncomfortable around him.

The next day, Regan woke up alone on the bed as Anna woke up early to get ready and change into something appropriate to avoid further embarrassment that she felt the previous night. However, unknown about the reason, he anxiously jolted up from his slumber. He didn't realized that he was grown accustomed to her presence to such extent. Waking up beside her, with her arms carelessly rested on his body while her head hidden in his chest, he missed the warmth and affinity that did wonders to his heart in her close presence. He immediately got up to check around when he heard a melodious humming sound while coming out of the room. It was then when he noticed Anna in the kitchen, working and humming a pleasant sound, lost in her world, so much that she didn't even hear him coming towards her. She was whisking the eggs while swaying a little while Regan quietly leaned on the kitchen island resting his chin on his hand, watching her in amusement. She was already dressed in a ruffled top and shorts with a messy bun leaving some tendrils of her long hair around her neck making her delectable. She gasped in surprise on turning around while Regan was quietly watching her in amusement.

"You scared me." She exclaimed in surprise.

"Morning Anastasia."

"Morning." Not knowing what to say further, she hastily asked him, "Hungry?"

"Too much."

"Just 5 minutes."

She carried on with her work and quickly cooked the pancakes and scrambled eggs. She could feel Regan's gaze on her but decided to avoid it as she couldn't help being nervous around him. She looked in his direction only when she heard his voice.

"Someone is in a good mood today?" Regan asked while smiling brightly.

She returned the smile and replied shortly. "Hmmm...It feels good over here."

She was about to take the dishes to the dining table when Regan once again surprised her by coming beside her without her notice.

"You scared me again Regan." She lightly admonished him.

Regan chuckled and took the serving bowl from her hand to keep it aside.

"What are you doing?"

"Trying to get your attention."

"....."

"I feel that you are avoiding me which I am not liking a bit." He frowned and continued."Do I make you uncomfortable Anna?"

He finally asked as he couldn't see her avoiding him. He wanted all her attention and everything for himself. When she shook her head in denial, he asked again.

"Do I make you nervous then?"

Unknowingly her eyes widened in surprise as he read her accurately. She looked down while still contemplating on how to answer him while a knowing smile adorned his face at her coloured cheeks which he was so in love with. He didn't need her answer to know that it was their progressing relation and proximity that made her act so differently. Without waiting for her reply, he held her hand and took her to a room which looked like a study.

"You have an office over here too?"

Anna asked while looking around. Eventually, her eyes rested on the large shelf of books at the corner and she went to it to take a look over the collection which made the edges of her lips curled up.

"Being the workaholic I am, I need it everywhere I go. So.....just in case....." Regan trailed and shrugged nonchalantly. "You like reading?"

She momentarily got lost in the book in her hand forgetting about Regan's presence. She looked at him after hearing his voice.

"I love it. The last few years have been too busy for me but I always managed to invest my time in a good book occasionally. I am sorry I just got lost....."

She placed the book back in the shelf and turned around intending to give him her undivided attention just as he wanted.

"Why are we here? Do you have some work?"

She asked trying to avoid her displeasure over the fact that may be he was intending to work even during their vacation.

"Yeah.....I have to fix an extremely important deal."

"Oh! So...Who is it with? I mean..... the client. He would be really very important that distracted you from our vacation."

Regan stuffed his hand in his pocket while Anna gazed down to hide her soaring disappointment.

"Hmmm...She's really very important."

"She?"

Anna was astounded with the new revelation. She didn't like the idea of him giving his attention to someone else other than her, that too to a girl. She didn't miss the way his eyes gleamed while mentioning about her and she couldn't help but felt a pang of jealousy in her heart which she had no clue until then that it ever existed in her. The realization didn't only displeased but shocked her too.

Regan wanted to laugh hard on her expressions. He couldn't understand how did she cope up with the shrewd and iniquitous businessmen in the business world as she was an open book who could be easily read by anyone. The realization of her reserved self who was exceptional in hiding her real innocent self to the world stinged his heart but at the same time, he felt fortunate and delighted to uncover her true self and be a part of her world. Regardless, his heart fluttered on the way her eyes lit up in interest to know about the 'she' that he mentioned. Jealous Anna looked more adorable in her unusual self.

"Hmmm.....She. In fact she is an inevitable part of my life. Actually I would like you to meet her."

Anna was completely baffled on the annunciation. Before she could stop herself, she straightaway denied him.

"I don't want to. I mean.....there's no need for that." She was bemused with her own actions. She could see the knowing smirk that formed on Regan's face after her denial. She tentatively cleared her throat. "I'll see you later. I.....I am famished." She intended to walk out trying to avoid talking about the important 'she' in his life. She had just passed by his side when he held her arm to stop her.

"Come with me."

Before she could deny again, he led her to the glass wall which gave a clear reflection of their images on it with the beaming sunrays falling all over their frame.

She tilted her head in bewilderment while he smiled taking in every bit of her, losing the number of smiles that seemed to get permanently settled on his face with her existence.

"I want you to meet her right away."

Anna looked outside the glass wall not having another excuse to slip the unwanted situation. When she didn't find anyone, she turned to face him. He had a wide smile on his face.

"There's no one out there."

Instead of explaining, he held her by her shoulders and turned around, gesturing her to look at the reflection on the glass wall. To say she was shocked would be an understatement. Before she could comprehend a single word, he again took her off guard.

"She is the most inevitable part of my life. Well.....

Scratch that. She is my life."

He stood behind her back while she gazed at her reflection, with him standing close to her, leaning down to match their difference. Her heart swelled on the disclosure. Since the day he confessed his feelings, he never hesitated to show his love. She never openly accepted his it, but all his gestures and words, his never ending love were doing things to her heart which had already accepted his warmth and love waiting for her to do the same.

"You have no idea of how important you are to me, and I have no idea of how to explain it to you, but I want you to know that it's you."

Not able to meet his intent gaze, she turned around and looked down but again met his eyes when he held her chin.

"You are my first priority Anna. I brought you here to talk about something. I didn't like you avoiding me for any reason as I crave for your presence and attention in every moment I breathe. Don't ever doubt your place and importance in my life for it will never change for anyone or anything."

Not able to hold himself, he kissed her forehead lingering his warmth on her skin for longer than he intended to. Getting back to his senses, he held her hand and made her sit on the chair across the table.

"Now let's talk about our deal."
