A Familiar Voice

The pain took over all my other senses. I felt my conscious losing to the over stimulation of pain.

"Gah-" the undead moaned.

In front of me was two other undead who were about to lunge at me.

"I can't. It's all fading away." I whisper.

My senses were becoming dull. It was as if I was poisoned and it was becoming apparent only now.

"You'll see soon." The creepy voice returned to say.

It was too late. That creepy voice was the last thing I heard before my sense of smell and adrenaline went away into nothing.

"I can't die here!" I yell.

Although I had nothing left in my consciousness I remembered the last moment I had with Domingo. I owed it to him to not die a few feet away from him. He sacrificed himself for someone he barely met.

My blade whipped in a long line. I threw it as it cut through one of the undead neck like gelatin.

I heard it thump into the wall and felt the pain of both the last undead coarse through my body.

"If not now then it will happen another time." The creepy voice said.

That was the last few words I heard as I lost my consciousness.

The darkness I usually see became more pitch black and lacked the new sight of auras. I didn't experience and sense of smell or touches. I was deep within my mind.

"Where am I?" I ask.

"I see you! Who are you?" I ask

I saw a figure not too far away. It was a man who wore a black shirt and khaki loose pants. His beard was rough but hidden inside was a slight smile.

"It's good to see you again." A familiar voice said.

"Domingo?" I ask.

"Where are we?"

"I was going to ask you the same thing." Domingo said.

It was him. I've only heard his voice so it's definitely him, but this is the first time I am able to technically see him.

"Domingo. I'm –" I said.

At this moment I saw him start to disappear and fade away into what was the sight of black fog surrounding him.

In the blink of an eye I felt my mind drift back to its self. I felt like I ran away from my head and had enough time outside.

"I'm finally coming back." I thought.

"Was that really him?" I whisper out.

I felt my body slowly coming back to me.

"What just happened?"

I was just there with Domingo. There's no doubt about it. I heard him and actually saw him for the first time.

"How is this possible. I just experienced killing him not too long ago." I said.

I felt my body fully recover and the pain I shared from killing the undead was slowly disappearing too.

"Things are getting out of hand." I say out loud.

First I survive a horde of zombie and later start experiencing these weird things.

"It's definitely not puberty. I'm twenty three. That should have happened a long time ago. Hah-"

I felt the cold floor and reached around me to get a touch onto the wall.

"I threw my knife and didn't hear it fall so it should be somewhere nearby."

In front of me was three bodies laying dead.

"Dead for sure I hope."

There was a fourth but it wasn't lying on the floor.

"I think I've got you."

I found the wall and glided my fingers around and touched one of the undead.

"So you got stuck to the wall with the blade, huh?"

The undead body felt like it was stapled to the wall and the blade of my knife was keeping his body and neck in place.

"Let me just grab that."

The knife was stuck in the wall but after a few tugs the body dropped and the head dropped too. The head thumped onto the body but also made the sound of bouncing and rolling onto the ground.

"That must be a pretty sight to see."

I wrapped the knife in the cloth and reached my hand towards the wall I was following.

"I've got nothing but questions, but I'm also in the thick of the trenches. I can't spend too much time thinking about these things when I have to fight to survive."

I grabbed one of the slices of jerky that Domingo left me and had a quick bite before I went back to walking with my hand on the wall.

"It won't end here. I will see you soon." The creepy voice said.

It originally sounded as if someone was right behind me but now the voice is becoming more distant.

"Look, you better make an appointment. I'm busy here!" I yell.

I pulled up the leather backpack and pulled my shirt down to wipe the dust off.

"hah- As if I can even tell if it's dirty or not."

I began my slow walk towards the direction my fingers were. This was the only way I could try to get my sense of direction.

"That's right, what happened to the breeze of wind I was starting to feel." I thought.

I was able to sense a draft while I was fighting the undead zombies but when I woke up it was gone.

"It seems to me like a lot of things will continue to be mysterious."

I walked forward and started to regain the sense of security as I recalled the sounds of critters and metal crackling.

"I should be safe now. I think if hear the rats then it should mean that there aren't any undead zombies nearby."

The tunnel went back to its usual lively place that echoed squeaks of both rats and metal settling down.

The footsteps I made also threw rocks here and there. The gravel hit the wall and echoed down the metro.

"This is peaceful." I said.

The sound of steps and crawling of rats has slowly become a second home in my mind.
