"There you are," one of the men growled, his eyes locked on Sophie. His partner cracked his knuckles, both advancing menacingly toward them.
Sophie froze, her smirk vanishing as the gravity of the situation settled in. "Oh no," she muttered, taking a step back toward Lucas.
Lucas tensed, standing protectively beside her. "We don't have time for your games, Sophie. What do they want?" he hissed, eyes darting between the two men as they approached.
Sophie swallowed hard, her bravado gone. "Alright, fine," she whispered, her voice trembling. "But I can't explain it all here. They want something I took… something they'll kill for."
Lucas cursed under his breath. "What the hell did you get me into?"
The men were only a few feet away now, and Lucas knew they had to act fast. Without thinking, he grabbed Sophie's hand again, his eyes scanning for any possible escape route. There wasn't much time.
