"What do you think Damian?" Lloyd asked when he did not hear him saying anything in their conversation. Damian turned to him and shrugged his shoulders rose to his feet, tucked his hands into his pants pockets walked a little distance from them, and asked, "How many of our men did you ask to watch Melody?"
His words confused them and then surprised them. Was he thinking of her the whole time while they were worried about the happenings in the underworld that were sure to rock the whole world if the news happened to be true? It was just unbelievable.
While they were making their assumptions Damian was busy thinking of all possible possibilities regarding Melody. If truly Melody does have the seal and the world finds out then, she will be in constant danger. You don't have to be a Nova to lead the clan as long as you have the seal not to mention Jacob Nova.
He has been looking for that seal for five years now. If he learns that a new leader has the seal then he is bound to go after her. Damian was not going to let anything or anyone hurt his woman even if she had not accepted him yet.
He turned to Lloyd and Ezekiel when a minute had passed and he got no answer from them. "Well? How many of our men did you send to watch Melody?" He asked again.
"One. Our people are occupied right now and we couldn't send more than one". Ezekiel answered, Still in a daze trying to figure out why Damian was asking that now when they were talking about something important.
"Make some arrangements and have another guard following by tomorrow". He said looking into the dark sky outside.
"Why are thinking about her now? I know she is your girlfriend but the situation now will affect you if we don't do something about it". Lloyd said and looked at Ezekiel for some backing but got no reaction from him. He seems to be in deep thought.
Lloyd felt frustrated looking at the two men like that. One was being irrational while the other..., he had no idea what he was thinking about.
"Damian, is she the one?" Ezekiel asked after seemingly putting all the pieces together. There was a look of surprise in his expression but it lasted only for a second and it disappeared like it was never there before.
Damian turned to look at him for a moment and then turned back to the window without saying a word.
"If she is then, you know as well as I do that she is dangerous to the Frost". Ezekiel continued when he did not hear an answer. It did not matter because his silence was enough to give him the answer he needed.
The temperature in the study immediately turned cold after Ezekiel's remark as Damian stared daggers at him.
"You know I am right". Ezekiel said rising to his feet to match Damian's gaze. Damian's coldness was nothing new to him. He has grown accustomed to it and is no longer intimidated by him. Kinda.
"It doesn't change anything". Damian said and Ezekiel scowled at him. "Be realistic Damian, it will change almost everything. If things go wrong Damian, you will suffer a great loss and I don't intend to stand by and let that happen to my friend". Ezekiel said, trying to suppress the anger he was feeling at the moment.
Damian has become good at making him lose his cool. What did he mean by nothing will change? Was he going to do nothing because of a woman?
" I know what is at stake but I don't intend to let go either". Damian replied.
"Damian!" Ezekiel yelled.
"Do as I told you to ". With that being said, Ezekiel knew that there was no way he could change his friend's mind regarding the issue, he sighed and sat back down with a tired expression on his face.
While the heated conversation was going on between Damian and Ezekiel, Lloyd was lost. He had no idea what they were talking about. He was there the whole time when the conversation began, so how come he was so lost? He wondered. "Hey... What were you guys talking about? I am lost here".
Damian turned away and Ezekiel glared at him. " Can you for once put your IQ to good use!" Ezekiel exclaimed. "What is that supposed to mean". Lloyd retorted. "Figure it out on your own". Ezekiel said and turned away from him.
Damian had drained all his strength away, now there was none left to entertain Lloyd and his slow brain to process the information. If he fails to process it then it is his fault.
Lloyd was annoyed at Ezekiel so he turned to Damian who was now sitting behind the desk while coldly staring at the laptop screen as if it owed him a fortune. He gulps down a lump in his throat swallowing back his words.
The tension in the study was growing with no one willing to break the silence. He turned to Ezekiel and saw him silently glaring at Damian. Now he was more confused, what was it that made them upset? He was yet to grasp the reason behind the banter.
Damian on the other hand ignores both the glares of Ezekiel and the curious and frustrated gaze of Lloyd. The study fell silent with the click clack from the keys of the laptop as the only sound that could be heard.
A knock on the door halted the movement of his fingers on the keys as he raised his head to look at the door. "Come in". He said and waited to see who it was to come at such a time knowing that he was busy.
Sister Beatrice slowly pushed open the door and came in holding a tray with newly brewed tea on it. She walked in and bowed a little, "Young master". She greeted them and waited for his permission to put the tray down. She could feel the tension in the air and knew better not to do anything that would make things worse.
Damian nodded and at once she dropped the tray. She was about to pour the tea for him when he asked her to leave.
"You can leave sister Beatrice, we will take care of the rest ourselves". The middle-aged woman bowed and left them alone.
He poured tea for himself and took a sip. "When you are done drinking your tea, shut the door behind you, and leave". He said and rose to leave the study.
