Well, what just happened is that his boyfriend was a very very jealous and possessive person. In that state, his rationality would be tossed out the window. His IQ would instantly go offline and he would do very stupid things.

A perfect example would be now. He came into this bar well known for hosting mostly Bloodgarde members without concealing himself. This meant that his moment of recklessness was captured by passersby who didn't have any ill intentions.

That's because it was under the protection of the Bloodgarde so they could walk at any time, day or night and still feel safe.
