Betrayal

After a week of riding non stop Prince Adonis and his Legion had finally arrived at the border and would soon reach the former border village.

Coming to a stop at a reasonable distance Adonis began to make battle plans with his Legion as they prepared to rush into the village.

"I say whilst we still have the advantage of surprise we attack, we rush in and squash those lizards down to the ground and show the rest of the continent... you do not mess with wolves." "yah" the men began to charge right to the village ready to begin a slaughter. When the men charged into the village though the sight that greeted them was not what they expected.

The village was empty when they rushed in, the were signs of destruction but no signs of the enemy knights camping there. The silence was deafening, Adonis sensed something was wrong. He raised his hand causing his men to be alert, just as everyone was thinking that they may be paranoid... an arrow was let loose sending a man down, this was the signal the sky went dark and it began raining arrows.

The men were falling but Adonis did not loose his footing gathering his men he made a break, trying to escape but they were met with the enemy knights who charged from all corners causing the already depleting morale to drop even faster.

Adonis seeing this spoke up " Men follow me!" Adonis rushed at the Knights with his sword showing the strength the royal family of Greylan was known for. With a sword in hand he was like a wolf among sheep, with each swing from his blade he delivered a soul to the other world.

The Knights from the Drakon empire were stunned by the scene the saw, they were told the king would not be here so they thought they had nothing to fear but the man infront of them was as dangerous as the king.

Adonis men saw this scene, recovering their morale they charged with him holding nothing back, they were a pack of wild wolves and they were hungry for blood. The pace of battle shifted to the favour of the wolves and at this moment victory was in their sights.

"I'm sorry." this came out of no where Adonis turned to see a sight he would have never expected to see. Some of his men had unexpectedly betrayed even killing one of his friends, no one had expected this allowing the traitors to kill alot but Adonis recovered and charged at them with anger clear in his eyes.

Before he could though someone shouted again, "watch out!" turning to the source he saw another of his close friends fall, Bjørn was behind with a sword through his chest glaring at someone. Turning his eyes to the location he saw Geoffrey, someone he had called a close friend. Countless questions flooded his head but only one word escaped the confines of his lips "why?", this one word contained countless questions and emotions which words alone were not enough to express.

"I'm sorry Adonis but I have to do this. If there is a next life I will serve you to atone for my sins." saying so he charged at Adonis once more but was stopped by Bjørn. Bjørn shocked them both, they couldn't comprehend how he was still alive much more moving with a sword sticking out his back.

Bjørn spoke up his teeth bloody " run Adonis, you have to return, someone set a trap and we fell for it but you have to return no matter what *cough* you have to return warn the king." Adonis was ready to argue but he knew Bjørn was right and with Bjørn loosing blood quickly there was no way he would survive this battle. Holding back his tears he called for his wolf riding into the Woods, the drakon knights charged at him but his emotions fueled his strikes and anyone who took a step close took their last breath.

The defeat was spread to the world this was the beginning the age of empires was not slowing down.
