Emergency

We part away soon after that, as I wait outside of the Adventurer Faction main guild. Erina said that she had some matters to attend to first and told me to go ahead.

Though I could do that, I decided to wait a bit. All because I needed Erina as my tour guide, but the most important reason was because I was out of money. I can't do anything without her currently.

As I wait…

All of a sudden, the main guild suddenly makes an announcement. It was a really loud announcement, as it stated emergently to all adventurers in the area.

It seems like the Deletion monsters have appeared in the development area and require the aid of the adventurers. I couldn't understand most of it though. The announcer was talking too fast, so I was unable to catch up with the announcement.

When I asked one of the adventurers nearby what was going on, he replied, "A monster appeared in the development area."

It seems that it's a pretty bad situation. All of the adventurers from the guild immediately rushed out of the building to the development area.

But of course, since I am not associated with the guild. I don't want to get involved until I have a good reason to.

That was until Erina came by and asked me to join them. Erina asked, "Are you not going?"

I shake my head. "Isn't the task for the adventurers only?"

"Well, it is a task that the main guild has assigned to the adventurers. But you can still do it if you want to."

"Eh?"

I tilted my head in confusion.

"There's no time to explain so let's go!" Erina said that as she draped me over her shoulders and dragged me towards the development area.

...What is happening? I thought.

***

Once we got there, Erina brought me to an area filled with lots of people.

We were on the front line of the crowd and I could see the situation at the front clearly. And the battle has already begun as it seems like.

There are some kinds of humanoid monsters, but they are not standing normally. They were standing like marionettes without any strings attached. They also had their hands floating in mid-air as well.

As for the adventurers, they are fighting against these monsters. There are various types of adventurers fighting against them. There were magicians, archers, and even some swordsmen.

All of them were fighting against these monsters.

These monsters are fast, really fast. I doubt anyone could hit them, except maybe for a few adventurers that killed them.

"It's been a while since the last time we had one of those..." Erina mutters.

"Erina, what are those monsters? Is there anything I should be worried about?"

"Ah! Those are called Deletion monsters. They are considered to be very dangerous and they are only active when the World's Wall is weak, which is usually on a daily basis."

"Deletion monsters? That is the thing that going to delete you guys? umm... I mean us..."

Erina nods.

"Yes, you got it right. But you don't need to worry too much about it since that particular Deletion monster is not that strong. In fact, most adventurers could deal with them without problems and survive these things."

"Really? Then what about the other adventurers who were trying to kill those monsters and failed? Couldn't they just try harder?"

"Well, that's because they are just weak. You see, these monsters are quite fast and agile. It's really hard for anyone to hit them if they are underdeveloped or unskilled."

"Is that so?"

"That's the gist of it. But if you want to know more about them, then you can ask someone else.

There are a lot of books written about them in the library and I'm sure that you'll find it. But the best way to gain those skills is to experience it for yourself. But you will need to be careful though. It is better to be safe than sorry."

Erina then pointed at me and said, "For example, your current level is probably good enough for you to have a fair chance of survival against those monsters. But if you don't pay attention to the situation, then it's pretty much a guaranteed death sentence for you."

"I see..." I nodded as I listened to her.

"But enough said, let's jump to the battle right away."

"Huh!? Wait! I can't fight like that!"

Erina shakes her head and says, "You will be fine. I will help you out and I'm sure you'll do well enough to survive this. Plus if you help with this, the guild would pay you up but only half since you're not a part of the guild. What do you think?"

"I don't know... I mean, I just learned about this stuff. It's not like I'm going to do well. And I don't want to die yet." I said that.

Erina might not fear death but it isn't the case for me. All because I have no idea what will happen to me if I die. There are two possibilities that I might be able to return to the real world as I was forced to log out of the game by dying.

The other one isn't that good at all, although it's just my own thought that created it. It was the chances of me really dying here if I was killed by these Deletion monsters.

If that happened, then there wouldn't be any way for me to get back to the real world. In that case, I have to avoid any risky situations like these.

All of the fear began to engulf my mind, making me unable to think straight.

"Alright then, let's go!"

Without giving me a chance to reply, Erina drags me to the front line of the battle.

"Wait! I'm not ready for this!"

I screamed at her but she ignored it.

As we arrived at the front line, I could feel that the situation had already worsened. There are some adventurers lying on the ground, who are wounded. They are still breathing but I can see their injuries clearly.

And there are also many more adventurers who are still standing and fighting against these monsters.

They are desperately trying to keep the monsters away from the wounded and away from the residential areas.

But the monsters are too fast for them. They are like ghosts that are floating in the air.

I look at Erina as she looks back at me.

"So? What are you going to do?" Erina asked me.

I was dumbfounded by her question. I look at her and ask, "What do you mean by that? Of course, I'm going to run away from this place."

There's no way I am going to risk my life out here, plus I'm too scared to even fight. As this is not a game. I am in the game but all of this situation itself isn't part of the game that I know of.

Erina then looks at me with a serious expression. "I'm afraid that's not an option here."

"Huh?"

"As you can see, there are people wounded and injured. Regardless of what faction you join, there would be time that you would need to fight to protect yourself and others. But of course,

you don't have to do this if you don't want to. I'll help you out if you want to run away."

"I..."

I can't answer her question as I don't know what to say.

So I decided to take a look at the situation at hand.

I noticed that most of the newbie adventurers have stopped attacking and retreated towards the back line. The veterans are now defending the wounded and injured.

"What are you waiting for!? Attack those monsters already!" one of the veteran adventurers shouts.

But no one seems to listen to him. They are all too scared to fight against these monsters.

Meanwhile, the monsters are getting closer and closer.

The monsters are approaching us with quick movements. They are fast and agile. I can only see a blur moving in front of me.

This is bad! I decided that it was not the time for me to think whether I was going to die or not, I had to fight them now!

I take out my magun and aim at one of the monsters.

*Bang!*

I shoot a bullet.

But the monster easily dodges it. "Damn it! I can't hit them at all!"

Seeing that I finally decided to join up the fight, Erina didn't dwindle around as she pushed forwards and she killed countless of the deletion monsters with her dagger.

I can see her movements clearly since she's fighting right next to me. She moves quickly and skillfully.

She strikes down a monster and then she moves on to the next one.

Her movements are so fluid and fast, that it makes me unable to keep up with her.

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
