“You could never resist someone in need.” Rita turned off the electric jug when it boiled. “I forgot to get more Earl Grey so we only have Choysa. Is that okay?”
“That’s fine. Are you sure you don’t want a hand?” Nate figured he’d ask. She was hugely pregnant again, and although she’d always been very independent and not one to ask for help, she looked like she could use a sit-down.
“You can grab some plates for the lamingtons, if you want,” Rita said. “They’re still in the same place.” Rusty pushed back his chair, but she shook her head. “You’re a visitor. Nate’s sort of family, so he doesn’t count. We’ve got it under control.”
