CHAPTER 3 : BIGGEST RESPONSIBILITY

Before we start-

I finally know how hard it is to write these stories. Even though I have all the ideas I'm having hard time reaching writing a long chapter.

There are two reasons for that . First I have a crude way of writing. and second I'm majorly focused on only writing the main part of the story. Well I'm trying to not make much grammar mistakes. And make the story as easy to understand as possible.

Now , About the story I have already established that Court of Owls , that are Batman villains , are the final boss for this arc. But there will be some more Spidey action like a one on one against someone. This chapter will see to that.

On the other hand , Regarding this chapter. It's a depiction of a very popular issue from the Amazing Spider-Man comics. issue #32-33 specifically with some modifications to fit in the story that you will find when reading .Just wanted to let you know that I ain't smart enough to write such a good story. Somewhere in New York. In an old abandoned warehouse there was trap door that led to an underground passage that went to an underwater labratory.

Dr. Octopus was currently in the laboratory , working on his Big computer analysing the reports of his latest Experiment.

" It's almost done . I'm so close to the Mastery of Lingering Radiation. With this I will finally be able to achieve the true greatness that I , Otto Octavius truly deserve."

"It was the radiation that changed my life. Caused it to become what it is today. Now, Thanks to the very Radiation the world will finally bow to the Dr. Otto Octavius , one of the most powerful and most feared human beings alive. "

And if I can learn to control the Radiation . There is no limit to the additional powers I could gain for myself — and for any others that I may choose."

" And this time I'll make sure no one will stand In my way . Especially that Spider-Man."

After that he clicked on a button and a screen lit up showing a masked face. Octopus had hired these masked goon to carry out dirty work for him. " I need any and all type of radiation equipment you can find. Have your men continue to gather them . We are very close to success."

" Yes sir. It shall be done at once."

Peter and MJ came the hospital where Aunt May was admitted to as soon as possible after getting the call earlier. They came running towards her room and Peter push open the door with great force and went straight to the side of the bed May layed on.

The doctor and nurse , who were in the room examining the the patients condition eyed the two who came in. One woman and one man both looked young.

"Aunt May how could this happen to you. You were just fine this early morning , you waved me good bye . It's my fault . I should have taken better care of you. How ? why did this happen to you? " Peter started cryibg and felt powerless after looking at May as she layed unconscious on the bed.

Her condition was by no means good

She was on IV , she had a breathing mask on and also had all these machines attached to her. She looked even more weak. And she was literally shivering.

The doctor looked at the young man at the old ladys side. and asked " Are you her nephew? Peter Parker is it?"

Peter stood up and wiped his tears before he answered the doctor. " Yes. that's me ."

" We need to talk about the patient. About her condition it's not normal. "

"What do you mean Doctor ? She will be fine right?

" To be honest young man , even we don't know yet. As i said her condition isn't normal it's not some common disease. We only have a rough what is the reason for her condition. We have found some type of foreign substance in her blood. Any idea what it might be? "

" I..I don't know. May soent most of her time at home rarely going out. " Peter looked down sadly thinking how badly he had taken care of his aunt after Uncle Ben's death.

" Well we are still runnibg test we should get result soon ." The doctor patted Peter on the shoulder before walking out of the room .

Peter sat outside May's room with Mary Jane. They both looked sad and worried.

Mary turned to look at Peter. The aunt and nephew were one of the most kind and considerate people she had ever met . May was most kind soul she knew. And Yet every time when she met them they were facing some kind of problem. MJ found it very wrong that good people like the parkers faced so much trouble while the bad guys roamed free without any problem.

She placed a hand on her friends shoulder. He looked so worried like the world was crashing down. " She will be fine Peter. "

" It's not right MJ . It's ... It's just not fair. May is so kind , so good and yet she has to suffer like this. I can't even take proper care of her. Now she is suffering because of me ."

" Don't blame yourself Peter.this wasn't in your control." as she continued to talk The doctor cane back with a report in hand .

" This is really bizzare . The foreign substance in her blood is something Radioactive.This is out of our scope we need a specialist. "

Peter was shocked stupid. His mind immediately whirled back to the memory of how once May had needed a blood transfusion and he had given her his spider blood.

'I... It's my blood that's causing her so much problems. I have radioactivity in my blood which i gave to her. I caused a disaster again.'Peter clutched his head and sat back down.

' I was also partially responsible for Uncle Ben's death because I wasn't able to stop that crook. Now i have done it again . This time to aunt May . My only family. She is about to die because of me too. Oh No ! This can't be happening. please no .'

' I need to do something. I can't let it happen ,no i won't let it happen to her .' With that thought he ran iut of the hospital. And Mj chased after him .

" Peter wait where are you going ?"

"To Dr. Kurt Connors , he is a master in genetics and radiation. He should be able to help May .He was my father's friend."

They reached Connors lab and knocked.

"OH ! Peter and your friend. what are you doing here young man."

Connors was someone who he had helped as both Spider-man and Peter Parker.

" No time for pleasantries Doc my aunts life is in danger ."

Then he described the whole situation to aunt May to Curt who listened attentively before speaking back again. " I don't know much if what i can do but I'll do the research on blood can you get me some. ?"

Peter nodded before he took out a test tube that contained May's blood which he was blood to get from hospital

After running some tests on the blood Connor came back out to meet the two youngsters . "I don't know if I can help much but i do know something that might just be helpful. The latest medicine ISU-36 serum . It is very potent against radioactive caused complications . It might be of great help. I know a friend who can help us get the serum immediately.

"Then order it doc.Leave no stone unturned."

"It's the cost of it Peter. The serum is very expensive."

"I'll take care of it . Don't worry about the money." with those words Peter left. ", Just make sure you get that serum as soon as possible."

Connors and MJ both looked at the man's back as he walked away before MJ turned and thanked the Doctor for his help before following Peter.

"Peter where are you going to get the Money for the serum ?" MJ asked worried about this whole situation. She knew there situation very well. Parker's and her family weren't so different in the financial regards. Just enough to go by through daily life nothing more.

Peter was silent as he walked through the streets. He it all too well. And he only have one idea how to get money.

They went straight to his and May's home but instead of going inside they went to the backyard where the door to basement was. In the basement, there were a lot of things. Some stuff of his dad and mom. Uncle Ben's bike. His whole little Lab where he made web shooters and web fluid .

He went to his lab table and started to pack things up. Anything that was of value like his father's Advanced microscope, various lab apparatus. The telescope his uncle Ben gave him on his tenth birthday.

" Peter these are all very important stuff to you. Are you really going to sell your uncle's gift?"

" These can be bought again later Mary jane . what I need right now is money to get that serum for aunt May."

MJ looked sad but didn't know what to do help her friend.

They went back to Dr. Connors place .

" Don't worry Peter , I have already ordered the serum . They are using the fastest means to deliver it hear quickly. But you will have to pick the parcel at the airport."

" Thanks a lot Doctor Connors. Thanks for all the help."

MJ too looked relieved. she then said the Peter "You go stay with your aunt I'll go pick up the parcel at the airport. Alright."

Peter looked at her and he had to say it now," I can't thank you enough MJ you were with me this whole time. keeping up with me even though you have so many things if your own to handle. It's alright I'll be able to take it from here. You don't have to..."

Mary Jane interrupted him then "It's alright Tiger . You can count on your friends sometimes you know .we wish to help you. I'll go to the airport and you won't stop me. That's final."

On the other side , Dr. Octopus too just recieved the news of a batch Of the new ISU-36 serum being brought here to New York. He immediately called his goons.

" There's a batch of newly developed ISU-36 delivered today at the airport . It will be a very helpful part of my research. I need you get that for me at any cost. Send in all the men you have."

" Yes , Sir."

Mary Jane reached airport by 12:30. Just about the time for the guy who was bringing the serum to have landed. She was waiting outside the first gate of the airport.

A man walked up to her , he was wearing Green suit and was carrying parcel , most probably the one she was here for. And her guess was right. As the man extended his hand," Mary Jane Watson? the one here to pick up the delivery for Dr. Connors.?"

" Yes , that's me."

"Nice to meet you ma'am. The Dr. must want the serum really bad to be paying such high premium for delivery."

Before Mary Jane could answer two vans suddenly came rushing in and stopped next to them and bunch of masked men rushed out and grabbed the Delivery man ,pinned him to the ground and snatched away the parcel he was carrying.

MJ's eyes widened as she understood the situation . They were here for the serum. But that's not possible. They needed the serum for May . It was her final hope. With that thought in mind she jumped at the goon with the parcel. and snatched it away before turning around to run. The masked men were shocked for a second then they also ran after her and caught her in a few seconds.

This commotion had attracted the guards too. As they came to subdue the masked men. The goons in van took out gun and started firing. As this was going on the masked guy who was driving the van got a call from his Boss.

" Is it done yet? why are you taking so long did you get the serum or not?"

" Sorry sir, but a redhead bimbo has caused some Problems in plans."

Hearing about the Red head girl , Otto's mind raced back to certain girl who had helped Spider-man in one of their fights.' Is it her? Doesn't matters. I have a good use for that girl.'

Then he told the goon ," Take the girl too. We will set up a trap for Spider-man and she can be a good bait. Once I have completed my research. My first target will be that spider."

" Understood." Then he turned towards his team " Take the girl too and let's get out of here.The police may arrive any minute now."

With that order, the goons grabbed MJ and went inside the van .The driver pressed the accelerator and they vanished from the scene.

"WHAT?" as Peter heard about what had happened he couldn't believe it . Some masked men took away the serum , his aunt's only hope for survival. And they had also kidnapped Mary Jane. He couldn't believe this day could get any worse.

'I need to save her. And also find the serum . It's those masked men. I have to find them.'

With that thought in mind Peter changed into his superhero costumes and went straight to the airport.

Arriving at the airport , He could see many police vehicles. He also located Gordon. The officer he met in Captain Stacy's office. He looked decent man so Spider-man landed in front of him and grabbed both his shoulders.

"What can you tell me about this case? Where Can I find those masked men."

" Uh, Spider-Man? hey you see..."

" No time Gordon , tell me where they are . you are the damn police."

" Uh, well..." Gordon was a bit scared by Spider-man's outburst. It also didn't help that he couldn't get out of his grasp. " You see, we were able to locate the van they used to the abandoned warehouse near the port. But no signs of the masked men or the girl."

Spider-man nodded and jumped high and shoot his web strings as he went straight to the warehouse.

"Hey wait . we need to talk." Gordon called out to him but the hero wasn't listening. "Sigh, how can we cooperate if we can't even contact you."
