CHAPTER 1- THE ACCIDENT

It's 10:30am as Waiba sits up from her previous laying down position . Clad in her Baby blue hospital Gown as she slightly glances to her left and notices the life machine revealing her lifeline .

Her right arm seems to be restricted from any movement as well as her left leg . Which hangs in the air clothed in what seems to be a cast that has been signed by various familiar name's , but she struggles to recall the people who own those names . Her almond hazel eyes seem to bulge out of their sockets as realization suddenly dawns upon her that she's indeed in a hospital ward .

She begins breathing extremely heavy struggling to find air for her lungs . Technically she was panicking slowly but surely . The heart monitor began to beat profusely mimicking the panic attack which she was mere seconds away from experiencing completely if she does not slow down her heart rate . An older nurse walks in trying her utmost best to calm her down .

"OH MY You're having a panic attack, Ms. Taylor's, calm down dear . Everything's just alright .You're okay just count to ten but take deep breaths each time you count an even number and exhale after an odd number and I'll get the doctor to explain everything to you once you've calmed down ."

" One …..

two.....inhale

three...exhale

four....

five...."

"Come on dear ,five more to go . Your heart rates dropping back to normal ."

"six....

seven.....

eight.....

nine....

Ten..."

"There we go sweetie , all good " says Nurse Mandy (the tag on her upper left bosom reads ) as she smiles sweetly at her.

Nurse Mandy walks out of the room and comes back after 20 minutes with a doctor tailing closely besides her .

20 minutes later :

I glance at the Mahogany clock on the hospital wall ,right above the doorway noticing that 20 minutes have passed and just then Nurse Mandy walks in with a remarkably tall doctor in a white gown besides her.

"Good morning young lady . I am Doctor Arshad and I'm pleased to say that you're indeed a fighter . "

I look at him slightly confused as to what he just said . I'm about to question him when he beats me to it .

"I see that you seem confused Ms. Taylor's , but don't worry I'm here to explain to you a few things and hopefully you'll understand everything that's going on here .

I nod my head slowly before giving him my reply , " Okay Doctor Arshad " is all I manage to say .

" Oh dear , I'm only 28 ,please do address me as Doc A or simply Doc ,I prefer it that way " he responds back while grinning away . Oh he's such a happy chap ,I wonder if all Doctor's are the same .

" Right , Ms. Taylor's you had an accident about 4 months ago somewhere around mid Feb and you've been in a coma since then . Initially you had all ribs on the one side of your ribcage completely broken but because you spent such a long time in a coma ,they have completely healed up now and that's a relief . You also had a huge glass shard glazing your right forearm and your left leg knee area going down . Furthermore you had some deep burns on both your right forearm and left leg and that's why they both have casts on them to ensure rapid healing . Your family will be here soon as they are all excited to see you . Sooo do you have any questions for me Ms. Taylor's?"

" Uhm yes Doc A ." I looked up at him shocked at what he just told me about my situation. He nodded his head giving me the go ahead to go on and so I asked him the one question that had been bothering me for quite some time now.

"The names on my cast ,who do they belong to . I mean they sound familiar but sadly I don't recall any of them " I honestly told him . He looked into my watery eyes with a hint of pity in his eyes as he explained to me once more.

" Ah yes , during your accident ,I was told by head security at the local library that you were trying to evacuate the building when you noticed the fire , but fell as you tripped onto the concrete library veranda . I believe it was in that moment that you hit you head severely on the concrete floor damaging the part of the brain which is known as the Cerebrum .

The Cerebrum is basically the largest part of the brain and it is in charge of controlling your voluntary actions , receiving and interpreting all your sensations such as sight ,hearing , smell ,taste and touch and it also controls the higher thought processes such as memory, judgement and reasoning .

Hence you may not be able recall or remember things including the people around you because you severely hit your head on the concrete floor during your unfortunate encounter with the fire . That's the reason why you're having difficulty in recalling those names . They are however your family members ."

I was so scared as to what Doc A had just revealed to me because technically I've lost my memory and I don't know how much of it I've lost . Once again I nodded my head but quickly asked him another question before he could leave.

" Will I be able to recall them once they arrive and how much of my memory have I lost and how long will it take for me to regain my memory Doc A ? " I looked at him while on the brink of despair with my current situation . He looked at me with concern yet confidence as he replied confidently .

" That will truly depend on your healing , however I'm glad to say that yours isn't a severe case of memory loss . In due cause you should be able to recall and remember events that took place before your accident . I say before the end of this year you should be able to remember everything that took place . Just give it some time okay champ " He replied confidently giving me hope that I'll be just alright in due cause . I honestly did feel a lot better than I did .

" I hope so Doc A ,I really do ." I simply replied .

He grinned at me as a kind gesture before speaking up , " I've got to go now champ ,I'll see you tomorrow . Stay safe . Adios ."

I smiled weakly at him for his choice of words before he walked out along with Nurse Mandy . It was true , " maturity does indeed come with experience " he was so fun and made me feel a lot better with his choice of words and lucid explanation of my situation .

As I lay down wrecking my mind of chaotic confusion in search for clues of the events that took place before my incident ,slumber dawns upon me and before I know it I fall into a deep black hole called sleep .
