Prologue: A Summoning Ceremony

An ornate grand cathedral contains a wide elaborate chalk circle with 10 robed and hooded figures standing around it. In the front of the cathedral stands a man in white and silver robes. "Commence the summoning ceremony!"

Murmurs arose among the circle of summoners. Is it really right to do this? What if what we summon is evil? Does God approve of Otherworlders?

"Commence, NOW!" yelled the silver-robed man.

The robed summoners all lifted their hands towards the center of the circle and began to chant. These chants were meaningless noise, it's just a way to help focus their magic. The circle began to glow a beautiful lavender. Wind began to swell from the circle and a cloud of leaves shot out from the floor. A thick haze began to fill the room as the summoners kept chanting. The silver-robed man thought, This is it. This is how our church and our kingdom reigns supreme! A tall thick figure began to form in the haze followed by a strong animalistic roar that shook the entire cathedral. The mist began to die down and the summoners fell over from exhaustion. The figure began to move towards the silver-robed man who was confident that the one he summoned would be good, as he had God on his side. His grin was so wide that his vision was blurry, but as the figure approached him, the smile began to fade as the picture came in to focus.

It wasn't a tall figure at all, it was a rather short one, at least, that's what the silver-robed man thought .It was more of a monkey, or an ape, perhaps even the sentient Apeling race that he read about in research books. It held a wooden pole on it's back. It didn't look threatening, nor strong, and he considered that maybe this summon was a failure.

"Who are you?" asked the silver-robed man.

"Uhhh, well, I could ask the same to you, but I guess you're the man who ordered my summoning?" responded the ape-like man.

Taken aback from the curt response, the robed man instead decided to probe the Otherworlder "Are you good?"

"I'm doing fine, how about yourself?"

"Nay, that is not what I meant to say. Are you of good heart?"

"Uh, I intend to be, well, whatever people want really."

"Then, are you going to join the church of the Divine Three Godsunder the kingdom of Rivelakia?"

"Actually, I think I'd like to feel out my options, thanks for the offer though!" With that, the presumed apeling started to take his leave, very casually.

"GUARDS, STOP HIM!"

The Otherworlder wasn't immediately obedient to the silver-robed man's orders, therefore he was considered an enemy. Around a dozen guards rushed from the outside of the cathedral to block the exit, armed and armoured with shiny metal spears and swords.

"Uhhh, I prefer not to hurt anyone that doesn't want to be hurt, so if you're having second thoughts, you should probably just go...

Also, I was just summoned, so I may not know my own strength just yet."

The guards stood straight and tall, at least, some of them did. Others were trembling and their thoughts were flooded of their family and how life would've been easier on the farm. Unexpectedly, two guards dropped their weapons and exclaimed their apologies.

"Hey, you don't have to apologize, they were your orders, hopefully you won't be punished too hard for this though." The apeling responded with a kind tone. "Are those the only people standing down? Alright, don't blame me if you die!"

"GUARDS, CHARGE!" coming from the silver-robed man, not in danger at all, because he was hiding behind the podium.

With a swift movement, the apeling grabbed the pole on his back and swung it out and let out a roar. The pole extended and hit all the charging guards with one wide swing. The guards flew a couple feet from the impact. Perhaps the apeling really didn't know his own strength, as he had a worried look on his face as if he went too far.

The guards lay there groaning, except the ones who surrendered who were both admiring and fearful of the apeling. He smiled at them. I really hope their friends are okay. And continued walking out the door stopped only from a shout.

"WAIT, You evil demon! Who are you?!" The silver-robed man does not know when to quit.

"Oh, like my name? It's uhhh, well--

Sun Zhankun?" Yeah, that's a pretty cool name. Much cooler than the name I had on my own world. "What is your name?"

"I am Sir Franqase! The leader of this church! I will make sure that your existence will be a short one, Sun Zhankun!" These words seemed pretty empty coming from a cowering man.

"Yeah yeah, whatever." Sun Zhankun waved his hand off as he walked away. About 10 minutes later, he had a frightening realization. Crap!! I forgot to say that I'm not an evil demon! I'm just here for fun! He thought about running back to tell him, but then figured that would probably be more of a hassle to the guards if he had to pummel more of them. He was indeed an overpowered Otherworlder.

Yes, the first 'chapter' in this novel doesn't even introduce Mythere, who's on the dang cover! But I felt that I needed to put this in for the titles sake. You'll get it.
