Within two minutes, shes snoring softly. I rest my hand on her back and feel each breath. Shes worried. So am I. I never understood fear until Marinah entered my life. She asked what we would do if we lost each other, and I made light of it. I didnt tell her that I plan on following her wherever she goes. Our souls are intertwined, and I wont live without her. The difference is, if I go down, shell survive without me. Shes our destiny and will fulfill it by leading the Shadow Warriors. She only thinks she needs me. Marinah needs no one.
I close my eyes. An hour later, sirens go off, and the room fills with their screaming blare.
The sun will be up in a few hours. Its the perfect time to attack.
Marinah, in a whirlwind, cant stay still. Hurry, I didnt bother taking off my boots, why did you? she demands as I lace mine up.
I dont love and caress my boots as you do, and mine are good enough for the floor.
