Violence in Sports

Violence in sports usually refers to violent and often unnecessarily harmful intentional physical acts committed during, or motivated by, a sports game, often in relation to contact sports such as American football, ice hockey, rugby football, lacrosse, association football, boxing, mixed martial arts, wrestling, and water polo and, when referring to the players themselves, often involving excessively violent or potentially illegal physical contact beyond the normal levels of contact expected while playing the sport. These acts of violence can include intentional attempts to injure a player or coach by another player or coach, but can also include threats of physical harm or actual physical harm sustained by players or coaches by fans or those engaging in the spectating of sports, or threats and acts of violence performed by fans or spectators upon opposing fans or other spectators. Causes There are two major theories on the cause of violence in sports. One theory holds that humans have an instinct for violence, developed during a time when early human ancestors had to resort to violence and aggressiveness to survive and reproduce. Another theory deals with the sociological aspects of violence in sports, stating that sports are "mock battles" which can become actual battles due to their competitive nature. RITUAL VIOLENCE High school, college, and even professional sports teams often include initiation ceremonies (known as hazing in the USA) as a rite of passage. A 1999 study by Alfred University and the NCAA found that approximately four out of five college US athletes (250,000 per year) experienced hazing.[2] Half were required to take part in alcohol-related initiations, while two-thirds were subjected to humiliation rituals. Violence may also be related to nationalism or as an outlet for underlying social tensions. It is often alcohol-related. FAN VIOLENCE Violence by supporters of sports teams dates back to Roman times, when supporters of chariot racing teams were frequently involved in major riots.

Great work, I don't understand why I need 150 characters to write a review, but I hope this is enough... I guess not, is this enough? is this enough?

Ok, so this is a really well written novel, which is already more than I can say for most novels here. The characters are really compelling, and because of the vibrant descriptions, you can get a very good idea of the world you have been placed in. The only drawback, for me is a bit of bad grammar in the first chapters, but as the novel progresses, it gets fixed. Keep up the good work ^^

I have to say this novel feels erriely similar to another great novel on this platform, but it's different enough to not be a clone. Getting to the action quick this is a much faster read than Supreme Magus. Though I would still prefer that one over this, due to the writing style that doesn't mean this isn't a good novel to enjoy and read. Check it out

The story and characters are really well put together and the development of the ideas presented has good pacing and depth. The ideas and power structures are unique and engaging and after reading the first five chapters I am already hooked in. Can't wait to read the rest!

Great chap, lovely to see more of an insight of the mc's thought process. Great character development. Hopefully we'll get more world building + more characters in the next chapters. :D keep up the good work!

The novel is well-written as everyone is saying in the reviews. And it's genuinely true. The characters dosen't feel like figure heads cardboard type but they actually have dimensions which is pretty rare nowadays. also the MC is really pitiful

A well-crafted story. It opens with a very dark premise explaining what kind of character will be. The world-building is excellent as it was defined very clearly.

The world building in this story is extremely well-done, with a vivid and detailed depiction of the King's modest apartment and the contrast with Darius's vivid and imaginative dreamscape. The description of the falling-apart walls, the smell of alcohol, and the mildew growing behind the sofa all contribute to a sense of decay and neglect within the King's home. In contrast, Darius's dreamscape is described as a vast and fantastical realm filled with giant fire-breathing dragons and other mythical creatures, offering a sense of escape and adventure for Darius. The character development in this story is also well-done, particularly with the portrayal of Darius's troubled relationship with his abusive father and his coping mechanism of escaping into his dreams. Darius's father, Malcolm, is depicted as an angry and violent man who takes out his frustration on his son, holding him responsible for the death of his mother and using him as a punching bag for stress relief. Darius, in turn, has learned to block out his father's words and abuse, and finds solace in his dreams where he can be the hero of his own adventures. However, it is important to note that the themes of domestic abuse and suicide in this story may be triggering for some readers. The depiction of Malcolm's violence towards Darius is disturbing and may be difficult for some to read. The mention of suicide as a way to escape the abuse is also a heavy topic that may be difficult for some to handle. These themes are handled with sensitivity and care, but it is important to approach this story with caution due to the potentially disturbing content. I'm glad you have put a warning at the start. Overall, this is a well-written and engaging story that tackles difficult and important issues. The vivid world building and well-developed characters make for a captivating read, but it is important to be aware of the potentially triggering themes.
