Chapter 2 – Rose’s dreadful past

Rose inside her room feeling proud and satisfied, she was tired of being in her sister's shadow. She wanted to live her own life, to be free, but for some reason no one was paying attention to her. She constantly dreamt of being in a dark place; with no one to reach out to or help her, in that dream, she always falls and no matter how hard she tries, to get back up; the darkness always swallow her whole.

She was all alone, Gloria has always been the one receiving attention from her family; because she was smart, beautiful, and humble; but Rose on the other hand has always been condemned by her parent, most especially by her mother. Of course, since the incident that occurs Eight years ago, mother had always seen her as a demon in the making.

*****************

Eight years ago

As she watched Gloria on her wedding; Rose was happy not just because her sister was getting married but because she believed that; with her sister out of the house, things will work out well. Her parent might, for once, give her some attention, but her happiness was short-lived.

The only time her mother ever paid attention to her was when she did something wrong or when the schools call to report about me.

She was all alone, barely twelve and the only friend she had was her dairies, a little book her father had gifted her, on her eleventh birthday, they were much; where she writes down all her secrets, it was her only sullies.

Her parents, too, travel a lot for business; leaving her alone with their forty years old nanny Mrs. Lola and her Uncle who back then was still unmarried and alive. She liked and respected them both, because they were they for her, comforted her, whenever she was scared. Mrs. Lola and Uncle will sometime take her to the sitting room, cook all sort of delicious food for her, and she was happy, at least someone cared for her, Rose thought.

But what Rose didn't know, at that time, was that treating her nicely was part of their plan to elope with her father's wealth and then pined the blame on her.

Then one night Rose had woken up, feeling pressed, but because she could not reach for her bathroom door, yep she was short, while growing up; she went out of her room; which was always open, to use the restroom room downstairs.

After she was done, Rose then went down stairs to get some water. Then she heard noises coming from Mrs. Lola's room, she ran to the room with her tiny legs, thinking that the nanny was in danger but to her surprise, her uncle and the nanny was in bed together, and the noise she had heard was her moaning, with one look at both, she could tell what they were up to.

I mean, she was twelve not stupid. Upon seeing her; they quickly jumped out of the bed, while she just stood there and stared at them.

Mrs. Lola hurried towards her, wrapping the bedsheets over her chest, while her uncle was trying to find his clothes.

"What are you doing here Rose?" she asked jadedly "why are you not sleeping."

"I was pressed but couldn't use the restroom, in my room, so I went to the one down satires but heard some noise and rushed over." She said innocently, looking at the nanny, whose expression now was super scarily.

"Then you should have called for me, to help out." The nanny told her furiously, as she forcefully yanked her hands, leading her to the room.

In pain Rose tried to yank her hands free but couldn't, what could a twelve-year-old with tiny hand like a newborn baby do against a forty years old.

She continued dragging her till she got to the room and pushed her inside, "stay here" she glared at her and lock the door. Rose began pushing and knocking the door, she knocked until her eyes were too heavy to hold up and went to sleep.

When she woke up, it was morning, and she was on the ground, with the voice she was hearing from a distance; it seems like her parents were back, she hurried to the door to inform her parents about what had transpired.

As she reached for the door handle, it flew opened, Mrs. Lola came in, "Your parents are back, and they are calling for you."

Without replying, Rose ran out of the room in a hurry but was stopped by her uncle who was hold a little dagger in his hands, when he grabs her by the neck, she froze in fear as her uncle spoke "you know your parents don't give a damn about you, so if you tell them or anybody what you saw last night, I will kill you." He treated her with an evil grin and pushed her forward.

Scared now, Rose walked quickly toward her parents' who was in the sitting room, when she turned her head, she could see both her uncle and the nanny sticking together; murmuring among themselves.

Lola looked at the child "are you sure, she will keep quiet about this, if we are found out, we won't be able to seal the deal." She added,

He smiled "it will be alright, everything will work out according to plan."

"What if it doesn't?" Lola asked in distress.

"Then we just have to take care of things ourselves, by making sure her parents are unable to believe whatever she says, so even if she opens her mouth to rats us out, no one believe will believe her again." He uncle grin wickedly, "the motion is already in place."

Rose went downstairs to greet her parents, hoping that with the fearful look on her face, one of them might notice but when she greets them; they didn't even have the time to looked from their laptop, the busy working mother said "We will be leaving for London later tonight Rose, and it's going to be a three-day journey. So behave yourself and don't give your uncle too much work."

"What Again?" she asked in fear, "can't you take me with you, this time?" I asked hopeful, but dad looked at me, furiously: then somewhat calm.

"To do what? We are going there to work Rose, and not for tea. And I thought you like staying at home."

"Yes, but." I said and paused, from the corner of her eyes, I could see both my uncle and nanny watching me, I smiled sadly, to my parents' who was now staring at Me "Yes, I do, sorry. I'll stay back and tries to stay at of trouble," I reply to them.

"Then, It's settled." They both chorus and continued with their work, ingoring me.
