“So how you been?” he asked, the storm in his voice passing. “How’s Spencer?”

“Fine, I guess. He left for Spain last week. He was excited about it. They’re staying in Barcelona and then heading for Madrid. We Skyped a few times and he seems pretty happy, you know, for Spencer.”

Nick chuckled. “Yeah.”

“Are you still at the retreat? They don’t mind you being on the phone?”

“I’m in Oslo. Got here this morning. I’ve been in touch with a pretty decent young chef here and I’m just brainstorming, you know. Thinking about the next step. ‘Cause, I was serious about getting out of the city and the restaurant business.”

Bump, I feel a major change coming in our lives. Another venture for us.

“What are you thinking of doing?” I asked, knowing that I’d be part of it.

“I’ll tell you about it when I get home, all right?” He hesitated. “Will you come home to me?”
