When a Mage's Mana was depleted, he could use his Enchanted Staff to deal out continuous Damage. This could continue the Attack output in a battle.

In general, the differences between an Enchanted Staff and a Wand were that an Enchanted Staff had its own unique attributes, which would often offer additional continuous Damage attributes, such as Poison, Light and Dark Damage.
