Chapter 56 : I dunno what came over me.

Nectar sighed as she put down the file in her hand, it was actually the guest list for the Nisrag envoy. She didn't pay much attention to it in her first life since Athena was basically planning it.

She was only burying herself in work so she wouldn't have to think about Pollen or Howard. " I need a drink, a strong one ". Nectar's face momentarily lit up as she decided to go to the tavern again tonight.

Rubbing her neck, she got up and walked out of the side room. It was an hour before noon and was still cold " I haven't even had breakfast yet, what's wrong with me "?

Liam had left to follow Mario to the blacksmith since he needed help with something. Nectar didn't get too far when the hair on her back stood.

" Good morning my empress ", Nectar felt her eyes bulge and tried to run but her body wasn't obeying. Eros stood in front of her and she smiled politely " Greetings to the emperor, first star in the dragon's domain ".

Eros nodded " Forget the formalities, I almost thought you were running away from me ". Nectar smiled nervously, avoiding eye contact " Me? Why would I do that "? Eros rubbed his chin " I'm not sure, that's why I asked "?

Nectar's panic rose as she realized they were the only one in the hallway and she still couldn't move, " I'm really sorry about yesterday, I dunno what came over me ". Eros nodded, circling her " Is that supposed to change the fact that you almost crippled me "?

Nectar bit her lip trying hard not to laugh while Eros misinterpreted it as guilt " I'm not sure what to do with you ". Nectar frowned slightly [ What's that supposed to mean? ] " How about you forgive me and we go back to living our normal lives "? [ And ignoring each other ]

Eros snapped his fingers and Nectar regained feeling in her body [ How did he do that? ] Nectar closed her eyes tightly as he got closer, forcing herself not to kick him again.

He whispered something into her ear but Nectar had no idea what it was. She was focusing so much attention on not moving away or kicking him again but she couldn't ask him to repeat himself, she didn't want to spend any more seconds with him.

Eros had a satisfied smile on his face at Nectar's dazed expression while she resisted the urge to slap it off his face.

Then a messenger ran in and Nectar nearly cried out for joy [ The gods aren't completely useless! ] He seemed to be out of breath but relieved to have found them " Reporting to her majesty ".

Nectar signalled for him to go on " We've received news that the new mine that you bought has caved in with half of its workers stuck inside ". Nectar's frown deepened [ You can't just let me have this, can you? ] " Alright, your report has been received ".

Nectar was startled when Eros spoke [ Darn, he's still here ] " What are you going to do "? Nectar smiled slightly " Try and get them out, I think I was being obvious ". Nectar frowned when his grip on her wrist tightened " You don't have to do that ".

Shaking him off, she rubbed her wrist " I shall not bother his majesty with my affairs. Excuse me ". Nectar held her dress up and ran out in the direction of her palace [ Can you imagine, trying to tell me what to do ]

Nectar had already sent for Liam as she rummaged through her clothes " Skirts and dresses will hold me back ". Then she found black dungarees she'd had made a while ago and a pink round neck. She matched it with pink fingerless gloves and black fur boots. She packed her hair into a messy bun and closed her eyes, trying to calm down.

Standing still, she felt around for the water sources near the mine just like her first life and then she found a lake near the mine and stomped her foot. She disappeared and what was left were small traces of snow.

Liam frowned as the servant told him what happened [ Trouble just follows wherever she goes ] After telling Mario goodbye he walked to Reli's palace.

Reli who was sparing with Cookie seemed surprised to see him but smiled anyways " Brother Liam, is something wrong? How can I help "? Liam shook his head " Not necessarily, I'm looking for your brothers ".

Reli shrugged slightly wiping the sweat off her forehead " They all suddenly rushed out, something about a rock slide. Sure there's no problem "? Liam nodded " Thank you then, I have to go now "

Liam turned to leave but saw the disappointed worried look on her face and sighed. He smiled slightly " I could use some help keeping an eye on the kids. Could you help me with that "?

Reli brightened immediately " You can count on me Brother Liam, I won't disappoint you ". Liam smiled slightly at her and clapped his hands.

Reli felt her eyes pop as Liam disappeared in front of her. She felt a gust of wind blow past her dumbstruck face as she turned back " Did you see that Cookie "?

Cookie squinted her eyes " See what? If you think acting like that will get you out of training, your wrong. So very wrong ".

Reli looked back at the gate where Liam stood a second ago and rubbed her eyes " What do you mean you didn't see it? That was awesome ".
