While Marvin was observing Freya, she also noticed him.

With no choice, as he had already been seen, continuing to pretend he wasn't home just wasn't feasible, so Marvin had to come forward and open the shop door.

She appeared very interested in the trinkets displayed and said while browsing, "Mr. Nicholas, I was just passing by and had nothing else to do, so I came to have a look... Are you eating lunch?"

"Please go ahead and eat, don't mind me," Freya said generously.

Marvin wasn't afraid of Freya stealing anything from the store. Someone like Freya, a noble of her stature, would not demean herself for some worthless trinkets, unless she had some particular eccentricity... which was unlikely.
