Pokemon: The Traveler

Short Summary: A man is reincarnated in the Pokemon World with a few extra bonuses. He'll need it especially since he's been reincarnated into a ten-year-old body in the Crown Tundra. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Long Summary: Die. Get reincarnated with a few extra bonuses. Go on to live a fun new life. The classic, cliche formula. Something Shin had read about multiple times but never expected to experience. But even so, when he was finally faced with this very same situation, he knew exactly what to do. Go into the Pokemon world, travel, and have fun. Simple, right? Well... not exactly. Because Shin wasn't born in Pallet Town. Or even a big city in one of the major regions. No... he was in the Crown Tundra. As a ten-year-old child. With no Pokemon. He'll be fine. Probably. ------------------------------------------------------------------- No set update schedule due to school. I'm mostly writing this book to get over the writing block for my other stories. Romance is a maybe.

Aura

When the main character is given new supernatural abilities or anything of the sort and is sent into a world where those abilities are required, what is the first thing they do? You guessed it... hopefully. The classic training montage.

Walking out into the backyard of the small cabin that Shin and Miss Jones lived in, he tried the first thing he could think of. Meditation. A staple of multiple genres, such as wuxia, xianxia, and sometimes even shonen, meditation was definitely the best place to start when trying to find some sort of supernatural power such as aura.

After a while of sitting down and trying to clear his head, Shin felt that he was making no progress. 'What the hell is this? How do people do this? It's so boring. It's so cold out here, and I can't clear my mind at all. And my legs are already numb.'

Even through all these complaints, Shin still knew he couldn't give up. After all, if he's not even able to take the first step to unlock aura, how is he going to ever reach higher heights? After what seemed like ages, he managed to somewhat clear his head by focusing on his breathing.

It felt as if he was in a trance, blending in with his surroundings. He was hyperaware of everything that was happening around him. The cold wind blowing across all of his skin. The freezing snow stripping away all of the heat from its surroundings. The stench of Pokemon feces laid carelessly around the backyard. The smell of nature pervading all throughout the backyard. Wait a minute, something's wrong here. Eh... whatever.

Going back on topic, after a while, Shin was able to feel the presence of something different in the air. Something that seemed to hum slightly with the quality of life. Something that resonated deeply within his own very being, and encompassed everything in the world. Aura.

Of course, there is no way in hell normal people would be able to do this normally. The only reason it was so fast for Shin was due to the top-level talent granted to his body. Not only did it allow him, a complete beginner, to achieve a deep meditation quickly on his first try, it allowed him to also quickly sense aura on his first try. If any aura user were to learn about this, they would only be able to describe it as an absolute cheat.

Of course, at the moment, Shin did not know that. He was already encompassed in the feeling of elation gained from his achievements in the aura. It was a feeling of complete control and complete freedom at the same time. He felt as if had turned into nature itself. The feeling eventually passed, leaving Shin with a head even clearer than before. The only way he could really describe it was: post-nut clarity x100.

Guided by his instincts, Shin began to draw some aura into his body. Of course, this wasn't some sort of cultivation, where he would draw in the natural energy of heaven and earth to become a god. This was, to stimulate the energy within his own body, allowing him control over it. Since external aura cannot be absorbed, it just passes through.

What really determined the power of an aura user was their internal aura reserves. Again, this was not grown through cultivation or anything of the sort. Aura worked somewhat like a muscle, where the more it was used, the more it grew. By exhausting aura, the body naturally generates more to make up for the lack of aura, and once the rest of the aura recovers, the user ends up with a net increase in the aura.

Easier said than done, though. Aura usually takes multiple years to build-up to the point where one can become truly powerful. The only way to speed this up is through natural talent. Like some people are naturally more oriented towards building muscle, others are more naturally oriented towards building up aura. This would allow them to improve at an exponentially faster pace than others. Of course, due to the wish, our main character is one of those people.

Another aspect of aura, obviously, is control. Someone can have the most aura in the world, but if they're unable to control it, it would essentially do jack shit. Control is what allows aura users to do things such as aura spheres. This can also be affected by talent, as some people are just naturally better at handling aura and controlling it than others. Unsurprisingly, the wish made the main character one of those people too.

While Shin did not know the specifics mentioned, the natural instincts of an aura user gave him a natural gist of what to do. While more advanced techniques of aura would require guidance, most of the basic aspects of aura are instinctual for an aura user.

Speaking of aura instincts, Shin had finally managed to draw the external aura into his body. It seemingly woke something up within his body, as he felt like another sense he never knew he had was suddenly granted to him. An incredible surge of power seemingly rushed through his body, bringing a different sense of elation than before.

If his first experience with aura allowed made him feel like he was nature, the awakening of his internal aura made him feel as he were as strong as someone like Superman or Goku. Sadly, this was naught but an illusion. As he had not trained yet, he was not much stronger than a regular human. However, this was already a great start. And with Shin's natural talent, he would definitely be able to improve incredibly fast.

Finally, Shin decided to finish his little aura exploration session. He already felt the cold getting to him, even though he brought some winter clothes that Miss Jones had left him earlier. If he were to stay out for longer, he would be putting himself at risk of frostbite.
