Pokemon: The Medieval Era

Arthur transmigrates into a 10-year-old boy who lives in Unova. He gradually finds out that he is in a completely different era of the Pokemon world and the world itself has rules that never existed in anime or games. Timeline: Five to Six hundred years before the main plot, the period during the Kingdom of Vale from the Victini movie. Only the basic setting is taken from the movie, the story is completely unrelated to the Anime or games. Note: Don't rate the book until you read at least 10 chapters. I am trying something completely new, mainly world-building. I am trying to establish a new world background with certain new rules. Image Credits: It's from the Pokemon Legends game but know that, this fanfic is not in anyways related to the game itself. Disclaimer: I don't own anything in this Fan-fiction except the OC characters, all belong to Pokemon Company.

Ready for One heck of a Ride

Elekid and Magby are very uncommon in Unova, it is very difficult to get information on them so I never realized that the final evolution is not yet discovered. This makes things easier for me, Although Snorunt can become a ghost type, I can't bet on the gender as I will be choosing them directly from poke balls.

I was really excited about Elekid or Magby because they have very high racial stats in final form.

'What a great surprise!!! hehehe...., ' I thought inwardly while keeping a neutral expression.

"What are you so excited about, Arthur?" Ethan asked in a confused tone.

"Alright, now you are creeping me out. You can even read the emotional state of a person?"

"Not accurately, but your excitement is leaking out like a huge broken dam," he said chuckling.

"Is there any way I can stop people like you from reading me? Earlier, the teleporter also read my thoughts." I said expecting a solution.

"Easy way would be to get a primary dark type Pokemon."

'Here I thought he will give me a better solution'

Although Liepard is great, I can't choose it over an Elekid or Magby. I am very sure of the fact that Elekid and Magby are as rare as the official Unova starters.

As I was thinking about my choice, Ethan turned back towards me and said,

"Also, your earlier view on the treatment of Civilians and Nobles by the Academy is only half true. A Green-grade Pokemon costs at least one million coins which is impossible for a Civilian to buy. The fact that the Academy is providing it for free is respectable in itself. As they also mentioned about luck being a factor,"

"Being born as a Noble is also Luck."

"Being born as a Noble is also Luck,"

We both said the last statement at the same time and I too had the same thought.

"See, that's why I like you. Your way of thinking is very much like mine. I prefer people with High EQ as they understand my views," he said in a very happy tone as if he found his soulmate.

"Ok stop right there, I am straight and let's get back to our main topic. Did you decide on what to pick?" I asked in a curious tone.

"Well although I did choose, my case is a bit special," he said not knowing how to explain.

Just when I wanted to ask him about it, the knight who left came back with a Pokeball.

"Excuse me, everyone, I have a small announcement here, We have a minor situation that everyone needs to be informed about," he said.

All students turned towards the Knight curiously. The Knight then approached close to us and spoke,

"Master Ethan Frost here will be choosing a Pokemon that's not belonging to the list. Normally, this is prohibited, but on the condition that he will be choosing the Pokemon with one evolution instead of two evolutions, the Academy Panel has agreed on it. The main convincing factor is that he possesses a health-related issue that belongs to special case criteria in the rules of the Academy," he said handing in a Pokeball to Ethan.

"And also the expenses for this Pokemon were all paid in full by the Duke of Black city, so I hope there are no objections, not that it matters anyway. I was just asked to inform everyone so that you don't feel this is unfair," he said and left walking back.

'Wait!!! now that I remember, Royal Commander from that poster is called Daemon Frost, he was the one who put the notice for hiring Royal Knights.'

"Are you the son of Duke Daemon Frost?" I asked in a thin audible voice as there were some loud murmurs around regarding what happened.

"Ahhh, yes. I am the only son of the Duke of Black City. Now because of that, you won't start sugar-coating your speech and acting respectable right?" he said in an unusually worried tone.

"Huh? No, if you are fine with my casual speech, then I will just speak normally. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what is this special situation and health issue?" I asked cautiously.

"Well, you know I am a psychic right? So I would need a psychic Pokemon to keep my outbursts in check. I have frequent nightmares that cause me to launch intense outbursts of psychic energy that sometimes destroys everything in my room," he said making me figure out some things I was having doubts about.

I immediately patted him and asked,

"Phew, at least from now you can sleep without worries, can't imagine the money your father wasted to put everything back in your room to how it initially was. Oh!!!! wait, I almost forgot that you are loaded, so anyways, what cool Pokemon did you get?"

He was instantly stunned by my response and asked,

"That's what you are curious about? after hearing all that? You are not afraid of the fact that my outbursts might harm you?"

With that, I confirmed my suspicion that he had some bad past, I noticed that not one student tried staying close to him from beginning to end. There were also these unwanted audible murmurs around us as if they are shit-talking him, everything adds up.

"Why would I be afraid, being a psychic is such a cool ability. So, what's that Pokemon anyway?" I asked again trying to deviate from the topic.

"It's a Munna, it has the innate ability to eat the nightmares so a perfect fit for me," he said with a reassuring tone. (Image in the comments)

"Munna? that's an insanely rare Pokemon. If... If I were to put it out on the black market, how much would it sell for? Give me an estimate," I asked with huge curiosity.

"As this is a Psychic Pokemon and a high green grade one, it would easily sell for 50 Million or more," he said making my jaw drop to the floor.

"5...50...50 million? won't you get a dragon at that cost? "

"Dragon? don't even dream. There is not one record of Dragon being auctioned or sold. No sane person would even want to sell a dragon," he said in a confident posture.

"I wish I catch a psychic or dragon one day," I said holding my expectations for the future.

"All the best then, but first think about what to choose from your current choices. Time is almost up, you will have to go in and pick your starter," said Ethan, bringing me back from my dreams.

"I already made my choice but let me ask you a question. Among primary Fire or Electric pokemon, what benefits do they give if contracted," I asked knowing that Ethan might be more knowledgeable.

"Well, Fire-types boost a person's Endurance while Electric types boost reaction speed. At least that's what most people know but let me tell you, A trainer with a King level Fire-type will have an additional benefit of temperature resistance," he then paused for a second and said after thinking over a bit,

"Regarding King-level Electric-types, I heard that one could see things in slow motion for a brief moment. Adventurous people prefer both these types as Temperature Resistance and being able to see things in slow motion are pivotal in the wild. You can never go deep into the wild or climb peaks of snowy mountains or even investigate volcanic cliffs without these abilities," he said.

"That was a great detailed explanation," I said thankfully.

"Ok, now tell me what Pokemon are you choosing, Pansear, Magby, or Elekid?" he asked knowing the reason for my question.

"I decided on picking....."

"Only 5 minutes left, hurry up," said the Knight suddenly in a loud audible tone.

"I will directly show you, also you forgot to drop your blood on that Pokeball you have," I said and went inside the room pushing the door in a hurry.

-------------------------

Inside the room:

The moment I entered, I saw a fully covered Knight with no opening at all. I mean how is he even breathing?

"Name?" he asked.

"Arthur Jones," I said to which he nodded and took out a paper from under the desk.

"Ok, let's see...., you are the younger brother of Royal Knight Leon Jones and second son of the Late Baron Timothy Jones. Age:15 which is perfect and you have no criminal records, all criteria met. So tell me your choice," he said in a monotonous voice.

"I want an Elekid," I said in a resolute voice.

"Elekid is it? are you sure?", he asked for a confirmation

"Yes Sir," I said making myself clear.

"Are you absolutely sure?" he asked for a reconfirmation making me look at him weirdly, this is not 'Who wants to be Millionaire' show' right? or am I not audible?

"Yes, I am 100% sure,"

"Ok, before I present you with three poke balls to choose from, I need to inform you that these pokemon have only been born 3 days ago and are not ready to battle until they reach two weeks. Also, the academy made sure that these Pokemon have not seen a single living soul so you as a trainer should make sure they imprint on you," he said.

I gave a huge nod at him indicating I understood.

"Ok wait here,"

He went inside through a back door and came back after a minute,

"Here, these three are pokeballs of Elekids of varying potentials, choose one of the poke balls, I wish you luck," he said and stood there.

I immediately adjusted my hair in a way that he couldn't see my eyes and concentrated on the poke balls. My pupils instantly turned Red, I could see all the colors and textures that represent the flow of energy.

Far-left Pokeball had a normal green coated light over bright yellow color that represents Electric-type. The Right one had a milder green color while the middle one had a deep green color representing peak Green grade. I decided on the Pokeball and turned my ability off.

"I choose this," I said picking the Pokeball in the middle.

"You have incredible luck, you picked the best one Mr. Arthur, and don't forget to drop your blood to seal the contract," he said.

"Thanks for the reminder, will do that, and bye, Mr. Knight," I said walking out of the room.

"How was it? What did you pick? What grade is it?" I was immediately bombarded by questions.

"Elekid, Peak Green grade," I said smirking at him.

"Peak Green? Huge steal, you have good luck!! but wait!!!! did you just say Elekid?"

"Yeah, is there a problem? even the Knight inside asked me twice," I asked in confusion.

"How do I put this? I think you should be waiting for one heck of a ride from here on. Not many know about Elekids as they are rarely found in the Kingdom of Wolks but they are very infamous for being restless and full-on rowdy. You should also make sure that they don't run off to other people's homes to consume electricity. Sometimes they get excited and bolt to absorb electricity from powerplants and then cause blackouts," he said in a very satisfying tone as if enjoying my future misery.

"Fuck!! you should have told me when I was going in," I said imagining all the possibilities that might happen from here on.

"When did you give me the chance? you just ran in with excitement."

"Anyways, not a big deal. I will take meticulous care of it," I said sighing.

"Did you seal the contract with blood?" he asked.

"No, not yet. You?"

"I thought we both do it together," he said in an expected tone.

"No, I am planning to release the Pokemon out and talk with it first. Then after it gives consent, I will seal the deal. They are baby Pokemon so if we imprint and feed them, they will surely accept. I believe in forming the contract with mutual agreement, who knows, this might even form a deeper bond," I said making his head glow with brilliance.

"My goodness!! What an idea, why didn't I think of that? Although Pokemon are not very intelligent before the contract, they can figure out the things that already happened after the contract. So having their consent makes them realize that it was a mutual agreement from the start. Thanks for the suggestion, I will try that with my Munna too," he said patting me.

"Alright, so now what? I mean what are we supposed to do?" I ask.

"Come with me, we need to register our Pokemon and then move to the allotted dorms. Classes start two weeks from now, in the meantime, we can form a good bond with our starters," he said asking me to follow him.

I walked right behind him while holding the Pokeball in a tight grip.

'For now, Ethan will be my primary backing and I also got a high-grade starter that might become a vital ally. I finally took the first crucial step to become a Pokémon trainer.'

For me, freedom and the ability to do something meaningful was a big thing in my past life. I used to do everything like a robot on a loop and never felt like I contributed or left a deep impact on the world. All that for having a better future but only to die at a young age without any happiness.

'This time, I will do things differently, I will live enjoying the present and savour every moment. Whatever success I achieve will just be the byproduct of the process.' I thought in resolve.

Note: I am not sure if I ranted too much or took my sweet time for giving a starter. I hope you guys feel this boring or too much drag. I would gladly accept your opinions in the comments.
