8 “I do”

Lexa and I stand under the wooden arch that everyone helped make, and everyone sits in the wooden chairs in front of us. I see my friends and my family smiling, and everyone is finally happy and safe. My mom ends up being the one to conduct the vows and everything, and I can't help but smile the whole time at Lexa. "I promise to always love you, and to keep you safe." I say. "I promise to care for our daughter together, and to always be by your side. I want this to be a new beginning, of a safe life on the ground." I say. I see a tear of joy roll down Lexa's cheek. She's a lot more vulnerable now. She used to never cry even around me, but now she doesn't care if she shows her feelings, because she knows that feelings are what make you strong, not weak. "Clarke, you taught me that love is not weakness, and that feelings aren't weakness. Ever since the moment we met in my tent I knew there was something about you." I let out a small chuckle, and Lexa smiles. "I promise to always protect you, and to always be by your side through everything. I will be there to watch Madi grow up, and for us to grow old together." Lexa says. "Thats what you meant by vows right?" Lexa whispers to me. I smile and nod. I give Lexa a plain wooden ring that I carved her back tattoo into. She gives me a ring with her and Madi carved into it. "Everyone helped me carve it. It was really hard." Lexa says. I smile and laugh. "Just say I do before I let the tears stream out." My mom says. "I do." Lexa and I say at the same time. "Then I know pronounce you wife and wife! And now for the best part, kiss!" My mom says, as she laughs. I kiss Lexa gently, and we smile brightly. Everyone cheers. "That's gonna be you and I someday." I hear Raven say to Luna. "Yeah." Luna replies, as she smiles, and gives Raven a quick kiss. Everyone smiles and hugs Lexa and I.

After the night of partying and having fun, Lexa and I head to bed. I crawl under the covers, and Lexa joins me. She wraps he arms around me gently. "I can't believe we're married." She says. I smile. "Me too." "I never ever thought I'd be where I am right now. I thought I'd forever be a ruler of the clans. I never thought a ship would come from the sky, and end up being the best thing that ever happened to me." Lexa says. "You're so cute." I say. I kiss her passionately. "I love you." I say. "I love you too." Lexa says it without even thinking about love being weakness anymore. "Goodnight wife." I smile. "Goodnight Wife." Lexa replies.

After everything we've all been through, from being in space, to coming down when I never thought I would, to being enemies with the grounders, to falling in live with one. I never thought I would be where I am today. But I'm so happy I am. I have everything I've ever wanted. A family, a wife, friends, a home, everything. We've all been through so much, and we all have almost died several times, but for once, we are all finally safe.
