I wanted to pretend that I was dead, that he already crushed my spirit with his earlier tortures. The pain poured through my heart, burning deep in my soul, as every breath, every move brought on agony.

Maybe I deserved this, because I told Adrian what was really going on. Tobias was only trying to regain justice and find peace after his wife's horrific death, to close that painful chapter in his life. Now because of me, he was never going to move forward. Maybe this was just the way it was supposed to be. Andrew was getting away with his crimes and he was untouchable.

Adrian unlocked the container, stepped inside and pulled the door closed behind him. I closed my eyes dreading what was about to happen. I could hear his heavy steps and fear crept into my stomach. There was no point fighting anymore. I knew Adrian would want to end me in a way that got his rocks off. I'd thought that I was tough, but deep down I was petrified of what was coming.
