I had always played by my father's rules, never stepping a toe out of line. He was a ruthless businessman, seeing the world as a chessboard, everyone under his mercy is completely expendable. I worked hard to stay on his good side; I got good grades, kept my head down, stayed out of trouble, and most importantly I stayed away from boys. Living below the good ole Bible belt meant most girls' virginity was guarded by their fathers, but they were at least allowed to date. If a boy even breathed in my direction Father lost his shit, teaching me lessons with his belt that would not be soon forgotten. I thought I could just tough it out, as soon as I hit 18, just disappearing. But I was so very wrong. Now at 26, I've finally managed to escape, saving whatever small amount of cash I could get my hands on, and running in my truck. Now I'm on my way to the job that will finally grant me my freedom, a way to make my own future with a man I love, and make a new family to love. I just never thought that I would find not only my independence but my new family within those walls, with a man I can't have, who wouldn't be able to love me anyway. I just have to survive it for a year, then with the money from this contract I can finally break free from this cage, flying wherever my heart would take me, I just hope I don't fall.
