Chapter 06 Little Mi and Little Bay

Zhang Shangnan withdrew his eyes from the spot where Shen Ziyi disappeared.

He lay on the bed, holding Shen Ziyi's phone between his long, defined fingers. Seeing the unlocked phone, Zhang Shangnan chuckled faintly.

It seemed this guy was not at all concerned about leaving his phone unlocked with him.

It's not every day someone not so wry of a stranger or easily hands over the phone's passcode.

The boy appeared cold, but seems like simple and straightforward, perhaps not too scheming.

Shen Ziyi would love to smile if she hear Zhang Shangnan thinking about her not being wry of him.

Zhang Shangnan called his manager, Qiao Sheng. He had come to this village for a shoot earlier in the week, and yesterday was his last day. Delayed by some work, he and his manager about to leave when had just found out about the assassination attempt targeting him.

Zhang Shangnan moved the phone away from his ear upon hearing Qiao Sheng's shout.

"Calm down. I'm fine. There's nothing to worry about. Don't tell me you've let everyone at my home know about it. Right?"

Qiao Sheng took a steady breath upon hearing Zhang Shangnan's usual and serious tone. Since Brother Nan could still talk like this, it meant he was okay.

"No, I mean, Zhang Mu, and I couldn't find you all night. I called your big brother this morning for help. And I haven't informed anyone else," Qiao Sheng quickly replied.

"Alright then. Let the elder brother know that I'm fine, no need to worry. I lost my phone, so I won't be able to call."

Zhang Mu, taking the phone from Qiao Sheng's hand, spoke on his own, "Master, where are you now? Whose phone is this?"

Zhang Shangnan himself doesn't know where he is right now. Upon hearing their questions, he looked around carefully and was pleasantly surprised. The room is very beautiful.

The room exudes warmth with wooden walls and floors, adorned in earthy tones. Sunlight filters through curtains, casting a gentle glow on minimalist furnishings.

A small writing desk by the window overlooks the mountain's serene beauty.

From the window, only trees and plants are visible, along with the sight of mountains. Perhaps it rained during the night, as the leaves of the wet plants glisten in the morning sunlight.

Hearing Zhang Mu's urgent call, Zhang Shangnan snapped back to reality, "I am in a nearby village. I still don't know the exact name. I'll find out."

Before he could say more, he noticed a small head peeking through the door. Seeing Zhang Shangnan looking in his direction, feeling a bit embarrassed, quickly averted his gaze after making eye contact.

In the next moment, Shen Chi Yan cleared his throat and asked from outside, "Can I come in?"

Shen Chi Yan opened the door and entered with two small furry creatures in red and white trailing behind him.

At first, Zhang Shangnan was looking towards Shen Chi Yan, but after these two small red and white creatures entered the room, his attention shifted towards them.

Zhang Shangnan has realized that what kind of animals they are, but seeing the two of them interact so well together has left him pleasantly surprised.

Shen Chi Yan, noticing Zhang Shangnan's interest explains, "They are Little Mi and Little Bay," pointing at the red fox and the white lion.

"My brother is raising them. Little Mi, Little Bay, say hi to him," Shen Chi Yan squats down, lifting each one in his arms.

In response to Shen Chi Yan's words, Little Mi and Bay raise their soft paws in a friendly wave, leaving Zhang Shangnan momentarily speechless.

Zhang Shangnan raised his uninjured hand to say hello. Animals are very sensitive; if they behaves kindly towards someone and they don't reciprocate, they won't go near that person.

"Master?" Hearing Zhang Mu's voice, he realized he was still on the call. Zhang Shangnan asked Shen Chi Yan, "Can you tell me which village this is?" He sounded very friendly.

Shen Chi Yan sighed in relief upon hearing Zhang Shangnan's friendly tone, still recalling Zhang Shangnan's previous shouted at him when he was talking yesterday.
