In the Hokage's office, Asuma began to speak with his father. "Ryo said something interesting, he wants to learn to be a medical ninja. I imagine it's because of the event in the Uchiha clan, but I'm not sure if it's the best path for him." Hiruzen listened and puffed on his pipe before responding.
"He's an intelligent boy. If he thinks he can use Iryoujutsu well, let him. We don't exactly know the limits of what he's capable of." He mentioned the golden coins, as there weren't many records of them, but they knew there were 7 coins. The goal he set for Ryo to master 3 by the end of the year was for the boy to strive, not necessarily because Hiruzen expected him to succeed.
"Arrange for one of the Jounin medical ninja to teach Ryo. And see to it that he undergoes a month of training. If Ryo doesn't show talent with this, have him switch paths immediately."
As they discussed the rest of the students, Asuma left the Hokage's office and headed to a house in the middle of Konoha. It wasn't very large, but it belonged to an acquaintance of his, Kentou Kabame, a special Jounin medical ninja who was no longer active.
Arriving at the house, Kentou quickly opened the door. Asuma could see a man with a poorly trimmed beard in his early 40s, still in good shape for his age, with a cigarette in his mouth. He looked at Asuma and said, "No!" before shutting the door.
Asuma, about to speak, paused at the scene before him, then armed himself and infused chakra into his weapon. Sensing this, Kentou quickly reopened the door. "Easy, easy, Asuma-san, no need for all that aggression," he said with an awkward laugh as he let Asuma in.
"To what do I owe this illustrious visit?" Kentou sensed he knew what Asuma was going to say, and possibly it was more work for him. "You know I'm retired, right?" Asuma chuckled and spoke firmly, "Don't worry, it's not a mission. Well, it is, but not one that will make you leave Konoha. Actually, the Hokage asked me to find a medical ninja to train a student from the academy and see if he has potential in Iryoujutsu."
"A student from the academy? Someone from the third year then? I can't stand kids younger than that." A few beads of sweat formed on Asuma's head. "Don't worry about his age, the focus is that he's good enough to be in that class and try to graduate this year." He then handed over an envelope with a note and a brief explanation, name, age, and situation, along with Ryo's training location and an acceptable amount of money.
"We want you to train him for a month. If he shows promise, they'll want you to train him for the rest of the year. He's just a kid, shouldn't be too much trouble for The Scar Lord, who saved allies and destroyed countless enemies in wars." As he said this, he heard a "Alright, alright, I'll see this kid, but don't bother me anymore if he's useless. I'm not the best at teaching anyway."
The next day at the training site, in the middle of the forest:
Ryo trained in the forest, continuing the elemental release training from the previous day. He had to make the rock projectile feel more natural, but still had to use all the seals. But he had managed to reduce the minimum chakra needed to use the ninjutsu, he was able to reduce the total use of chakra in ninjutsu by 1%, but still, it was 1% of chakra he wouldn't have to spend.
Focused on his training, he didn't notice someone watching him, and after some time, the person intentionally revealed themselves. "You train a lot for a 7-year-old, Ryo-kun." The voice belonged to a man, with a voice wearier than the world itself. Ryo startled at this as he launched the small stone controlled with the earth release. "Damn!" The stone wouldn't hurt the man, but it would sting.
In the next second, he saw a faint smile and a flash darted through the stone like a chakra laser, cutting it in half with surgical precision, and then the man sheathed his sword. "Hey hey, attacking your new teacher like that isn't very polite, you know?" Ryo heard those words and then asked, "Who are you, sir?" Upon being called sir, the man felt a pang in his chest.
"Age catches up to everyone, Ryo-kun. Don't think you won't be called sir when you're older. Oh yes, of course, my name is Kentou Kabame, retired special Jounin, your new Iryoujutsu teacher from now on."
Ryo widened his eyes, thinking it would take longer for them to assign a teacher to him. "A retired Jounin? Still, he must be good at this. That cut he made in the stone, I couldn't even follow it with my eyes!"
"New teacher?! Asuma-sensei worked quickly for this! Well!" Saying that, Ryo then walked to the side while he stored some small boxes on top of each other, placing them inside a scroll.
"Let's start right away, are you ready, Ryo-kun?" The boy nodded to the older man, and the two sat around the table. "Tell me, Ryo, why do you want to learn the art of healing?"
"I don't want to lose those I care about... Even though I don't have many anymore, but still, in future missions, I can save my teammates and be very useful to the village, and even if I get into a fight, I can heal myself. I'll also know how to attack the vulnerable points in my enemies."
Kentou looked at Ryo, seeing that his analysis was good, and he had also mentioned fighting with the teachings. "Alright, good thinking for someone your age. Let's start with the basics, there's a simple healing technique, you can learn it in the library. Go there to learn it; it's a small foundation for a more advanced jutsu." As he said this, Ryo looked at the man with a confused face.
"This?" He then made a seal with both hands, and soon his hand began to slowly change color. Kentou almost spat out his cigarette. "You already know this? Did you learn it on your own? To what extent can you use it effectively?" It was several questions one on top of the other, and then Ryo sighed.
"Yes, I learned it on my own, last year still. I practiced it at home on myself. I can heal small and simple cuts and stop bleeding from a deeper cut." Hearing what Ryo said, Kentou opened a slight smile, thinking, "He learned it on his own and even said he practiced it on himself? He kept cutting and healing himself to learn this? What an insane child!"
He remained silent for a few seconds and then grabbed a kunai, making a small cut on his own arm. "Heal me. I want to see how you do it." Ryo was caught off guard by this; he hadn't healed anyone besides himself, and now the crazy old man had cut himself.
Looking at the cut, he saw that it wasn't very deep or large, approximately 3 centimeters wide and possibly half a centimeter deep since the kunai hadn't gone in too far. Ryo stood up and moved his hand towards the arm, beginning the treatment. It took about 3 minutes for Ryo to stop the bleeding and close the wound to a certain extent, as moving too much could reopen it.
"Well, look at that, you can actually use it. But it's still not enough, but it's a start. This jutsu only serves to heal the basics, but if used efficiently, it can save lives with very low chakra consumption."
He then made some seals slowly so Ryo could see them, and a large but contained aura of chakra was floating in his hand, covering the entire palm. "This here is the Mystical Palm Technique; it's what we use for treatment, and it's an extremely upgraded version of what you just used. Since it's an A-rank Iryoujutsu."
He could see Ryo's eyes shining as he spoke. But then he closed his hand as the chakra disappeared. "But you won't be able to learn this quickly, Ryo-kun. You'll have to undergo intense training to learn about herbs, the human body, poisons, types of injuries. For now, what you know how to do is enough. To use the A-rank technique, you'll need more chakra, more chakra control, and more training. Get ready for a long and painful training!" Ryo didn't understand the painful part, but soon enough, he would, and he wouldn't like it one bit.
