Flight of Alora

Onicent was thrilled when Dauntice showed up with the three girls in tow. He was certain this was a good omen from his mother, he had been sent three possible wives.

At first he was most interested in Serse, she had the aura of someone who he'd never be in competition with, however she was kind but distant soon he realized there was no excitement in her. She'd only ever be a sister to him. In her first week with him he noticed her skin darkening to a flamey orange, but she didn't declare herself a goddess of anything in particular. She seemed to disappear into the walls when he wanted to find her. He grew bored of her tricks and happily tried for her other two sisters.

Airabella was attractive to him, but hard to corner, she was always a step ahead of him. When he did see her she was rude and strong headed. Each of his attempts on her were skillfully deflected and he found himself chasing her.

The middle choice was Alora, not nearly in Onicent's opinion as pretty as strong headed Airabella but not as sisterly as Serse. She was in effect quite quiet and sweet. However she too seemed uninterested in his advances on her. One night in attempt to impress he brought her flowers.

"Alora," he said, "I have something for you."

She had been knelt unto the grass fiddling with the ground with a puzzled expression. Upon his words she gazed up at him, he noted how pretty her eyes were with such long lashes, her skin had lightened to a buttery yellow, like sunlight. She didn't seem to have anything to say to him. He pulled the flowers out and handed them to her.

"Thank you," she lay them in her lap, her hands stroked the petals. There was a certain amount of disappointment Onicent felt at this reaction.

"Tonight, come sit with me at dinner," he said boldly.

Alora always sat far from him between her two sisters. He saw her blush slightly, but she shook her head.

"No lord, I belong with my sisters."

Onicent felt his rage rise suddenly. He was their leader, and he wanted her to sit with him.

"I insist you sit with me." He said with an edge.

Alora continued to gaze at him. Onicent's rage boiled over, he attacked Alora blindly, she screamed but neither of her sisters seemed to hear her. Eventually Onicent let go of her for a moment, she managed to get away from him. Off into the night she ran, Onicent chased her briefly but at last let her go. He stopped and for a moment turned and looked around himself at the empty forest, he felt no remorse for his actions, only regret that she had escaped his grasp. But he supposed now Airabella had his undivided attention, he'd just have to be cleverer.
