A New Purchase

Long Yu sat on the bed inside the RV. Today had been a fruitful day and he was satisfied with how everything had panned out. Although he suffered some injuries, the rewards he had gotten compensated it.

After he and Xixi returned to the RV, Long Yu retreated into the bedroom by himself.

He calmly opened the exchange system to browse through items that could be purchased with a single level 2 mutant seed.

After a while, he stopped browsing and closed the panel. Although there were some tempting and interesting items, they did not fit his current needs. The items that he could exchange were also quite limited with just one level 2 mutant seed. More importantly, he did not want to carelessly waste the mutant seed that he had worked so hard for.

Long Yu then retrieved the ruby coloured seed from the system as it materialised onto his palm.

"System, help me exchange this level 2 mutant seed into ten level 1 cores," Long Yu instructed the system.

[Processing exchange.]

As the system's voice rang out in his head, he saw the seed in his hand disappear. A moment later, ten round coin sized beads appeared in front of him.

Long Yu snatched them out of the air and counted them on his palm carefully. The sight of so many mutant cores at once excited him. After all, the amount of cores he previously collected wasn't even half of this amount.

Calming his mind, Long Yu focused on his next objective. He opened the system again and searched for a particular item.

Long Yu first decided to exchange for this item in order to complete the nano-machine exoskeleton armor that he currently has.

With the full suit, his defensive ability would skyrocket, and he could withstand attacks more easily.

If he had the suit during his battle with the vampire plant, he could have blocked its attack without receiving any injuries.

Moreover, Long Yu actually has another agenda for exchanging this item.

In regards to the virus that is inside his body, he decided to continue suppressing it with the serum for the moment. This was because exchanging for the complete cure would require all the cores in his hand.

Although doing so would free him of the infection, he would no longer be able to exchange for any other items from the system. This would mean giving up the potential enhancements that could raise his strength and survivability.

Hesitating no longer, Long Yu went ahead with the purchase.

"Exchange."

Without surprise, five of the level 1 mutant cores in his hand disappeared.

Long Yu calmly stared, as a futuristic styled syringe slowly materialised in front of him.

He then stored the rest of the cores back into the system and grabbed the syringe that was hovering a few inches from him.

Similar to the other exoskeleton armor syringes he previously exchanged for, the inside contained a thick silver liquid. However, this particular syringe was twice as big, meaning, there was also a lot more liquid inside.

'Huuu… this is going to hurt a lot,' Long Yu groaned in his mind. He still remembers the sensation that followed after its usage.

Taking in a deep breath, Long Yu lied on the bed and bit onto a small towel. He then placed the nozzle of the syringe against his chest and steadily pressed on the handle at the end. The needle hidden inside pierced his skin, as the mercury-like liquid flowed into his chest.

When the entire syringe was emptied of its contents, Long Yu felt a strong painful sensation like he expected. It started from his ribs, and then gradually spread to other areas of the bones in his torso. When the liquid reached his spine area, his entire body cramped up from the extreme pain.

…...

Ten minutes later, Long Yu finally managed to regain his senses when the pain subsided.

'Ugh… I can never get used to this feeling,' he moaned while massaging his back.

He sat up in a crossed-leg position on the bed and examined the area of his chest that was injected. Except for a tiny pink dot that seemed to be fading, there were no changes.

Now that the unpleasant part was over, Long Yu looked forward to seeing the complete suit and its capabilities.

With a single thought, silver nanites flowed out of his bones and covered the surface of every single inch of his body.
