20. A Wife on A Paper

The woman was wearing a towel that wrapped the chest to the upper thigh only. She doesn't know why the size of the towels in this house is all short. "I have to buy myself a rather long towel tomorrow." Calista thought about that after every shower but she always forgot the next day. Calista immediately took a knee-length short-sleeved pyjama negligee. The woman hastily put on before Darren suddenly entered the room. Calista looked at herself in the mirror before going down to the dining table.

She descended the stairs with hasty steps and found Darren sitting in the living room, next to the dining room, reading the newspaper.

"It took you so long, I thought you passed out." Darren threw the newspaper he was reading on the sofa next to him and headed for the dining table. Calista pursed her lips, "If you're hungry, eat yourself. Why would you wait for me?" Calista muttered in her heart.

Calista immediately sat on the chair that had been provided without denying anything Darren said. This was their first dinner since their marriage. Yes, even though they are only married by contract, they are still officially husband and wife in the eyes of law and religion.

"How was your job on the first day? Pleasant?" Darren asked expressionlessly while shoving a piece of minced meat into his mouth.

"Very pleasant. I met a jobless man who cut my hair. However, there is also a handsome man who is kind enough to give me lunch bread." Darren looked cynically at Calista hearing every word that came out of his lips.

"Do not have things to do? Handsome man? Huh, looks like you got tired of working on the first day so messing around with a lot of guys. In that case, how about not having to work again tomorrow!" The threatening tone that escaped Darren's lips made Calista swallow saliva with difficulty.

"Huh, if you want to have children soon, make your wife happy in her mood and heart. The happier I am, the sooner we can have children, the sooner I can terminate this contract." Calista put down her cutlery and left Darren at the dining table along with a sour face.

"COME BACK HERE!" Darren shouted loudly. Made all the maids straighten their bodies and make them tremble. Only this time did they hear a loud voice escape their young master's usually cold and curmudgeon's mouth.

Calista stood still. His feet automatically stopped when he heard Darren calling her.

"Don't blow your head because I was nice to you today! You are just a wife on paper. No right to give me orders, let alone threaten me! UNDERSTAND?" Darren's scream made Calista start shaking her body. However, she kept her back to Darren.

Calista slowly turned around and faced Darren while saying,

"Yes, I'm just a wife on paper, just a tool for making children, nothing more, nothing less. I have no self-respect since mortgaging my life for my father's medical expenses. Thanks for reminding me." Calista turned around and walked half-running up the stairs to the second floor where her room was. Calista immediately closed the door tightly and sat down behind the door while crying bitterly lamenting her fate.

PRANG!!!

Darren slammed the glass he was using after downing the contents inside. He immediately took his cell phone and car keys. There was the sound of a car driving fast leaving the mansion belonging to a young master Anderson. All the maids could only sigh and were speechless as the two newly married masters had a big fight.

Calista is still crying in her room. In fact, she was still hungry because there had not been half the food that had entered her stomach.

"Madam, I brought dinner for you." A servant knocked on the door. Calista's face suddenly brightened when she heard the word DINNER. The poor woman wiped the tears from her face and immediately opened the door to her room.

"Mrs Hera, thank you for being so understanding to me." Calista let Hera in and the middle-aged waitress placed a tray of food and water on a small table near the sofa under the window.

"Thank you, ma'am," Callista said sincerely. Because she is hungry and Mrs Hera is like an angel who was given by God to make her life easier here.

"You're welcome, madam. Please eat now before master comes home." Hera replied.

"Where is he?" Calista replied that she didn't care because her mouth was busy chewing the food that Mrs Hera brought.

"Young master left as soon as dinner was over," Hera replied.

"Ooooh, let it be. He doesn't have to go home at all so I can live my life in peace." Calista raised one of her lips with a devilish grin that was so stupid even though there was a trap she kept ongoing. Hera was silent without responding to anything. Right now the mood of the young lady in front of her was not good so Hera held her lips to advise her. Let her express what is in her heart tonight.

Hera waited for Calista to finish eating. After a few minutes, all the contents in the plates, bowls, and glasses were completely gone. Calista is really hungry because even when she eats lunch she only eats sandwiches that are not very full.

"Thank you, ma'am, you are very kind. Now I'm sleepy." Calista smiled at Hera. Hera nodded politely and took back the tray which was now lighter than when it was brought to the room.

"Okay, then I'll excuse myself. Good evening, madam." Hera replied.

"Good night ma'am, sweet dreams huh," Calista answered while helping open and close the door for Hera.

Meanwhile, in another place, a young green-eyed man was drinking alcohol in front of him until it was finished.

"He has drunk 4 glasses. Looks like he's drunk." A bartender on duty spoke to Jack, the man who owned the nightclub Darren was currently visiting.

"Okay," Jack replied, nodding.

It's been countless how many women who want to approach him since the first time he came but were always driven away by Darren ruthlessly.

"Hey handsome man, why are you sitting alone? Where's your hot girl?" Jack patted Darren's shoulder whose owner was half awake.

"Huh, girl? Usually, she's just troublesome and unmanageable!" Darren replied as he drank the wine for the 5th time.

"Britney has given up on you bro. She's manageable for you and she doesn't seem to be a problem." Jack seduces Darren, who loves Britney to death so that he doesn't want to date and refuses to marry then he can be with Britney again after Britney's divorce lawsuit against her husband is granted by the court.

"Britney? Hahahaha... I won't go back to her even if she kneels down asking us to come back together.

"WOW BRAVO!!! Since when did this brilliant idea appear? Did you hit something so that your brain goes back to how it used to be?" Jack pulled out the glass Darren was about to reach and asked the bartender to give him just the orange juice he liked.

"I and Britney are just friends. She's not a special girl in my heart anymore." Darren replied, dropping his face onto the bartender's table. Darren was successful drunk unconscious.

"Huh, can't drink alcohol instead of 5 glasses. Hey, you come here!" Jack, the flamboyant man called his men and told him to take Darren home. Because he had taken Darren home several times, so he knew the house by heart.
