Chapter 17

Lina leads me through the halls and towards another large set of double doors. She looks behind at me and nods before opening the right door.

It opens into a huge dining room, a crystal chandelier in the middle of the ceiling, and a fifty-chair table under it.

Micah was at the end of the table waiting for me, He stands as I enter the large room, he waits for me to come over and smiles, running a hand through his black hair. He brings out the chair next to him for me to sit.

I smile and do so, he pushes my chair in before going back to his across from me. He smiles, and gestures to a bowl of fruit a few feet away on the table.

I reach for an apple and look over at him, "How did you know I was vegetarian?" I bite into the red fruit.

He shrugs, "I just knew." He left it at that, and I let him, it was an unspoken knowledge that I was already too familiar with.

Micah clears his throat, "To the main point of this meeting. Your wolf is not with us." A piece of me broke; Sky was gone? The way he addressed Sky stung too, even though I knew he was just doing it to seem as if we were strangers.

"She's gone…?" I drop the apple and it rolls off the table, the sound of it hitting the floor was the only thing distracting the complete silence.

I feel like I can't breathe, I can't move, the entire room spinning in a blur. All I could manage were short gasping breaths, my eyes began to water, and the room felt like an inferno.

"Stella?" I hear Micah's voice, but it was far away, I can't see him or anything around me, I feel as if I were floating, "Stella, I think you're having a panic attack. It'll go away soon." I hear murmurs of his voice but can't figure the rest of his words.

A panic attack? Was that what I had before I turned up in Micah's house. It felt so new, nothing like it has happened before, and now that I have a slight idea of what did it, it just brings up more questions. Why did I have one? Why has this never happened before? What causes them?

So many more questions filled my head, I felt like it was going to explode, all that was coming to mind the past few days, this entire week was all pounding into my brain.

I close my eyes to stop the nausea from the room spinning, instead of the inside of my eyelids being pitch black, I could see a light wolf figure, it wasn't Sky though.

"I know where Sky is." The figure steps closer, it was Midnight's figure, "She has been in the same place she's always been."

"Where?" I can't move, only he can, but I can still talk, even if the words are in my mind.

Midnight flicks his tail, and moves his muzzle to the side, "If I told you it wouldn't be much fun would it? Cat and mouse chase, go find our mouse." Midnight proceeds to turn around and walk away from me, becoming a blurry figure once again.

When I open my eyes, I was no longer sitting in the dining room, but in my bed, well the bed I have in the castle. I thought I had just closed my eyes for a minute or two, there was no way I could have gotten here this fast without even noticing.

"There you are Stella, from what Prince Micah tells me, you are accustomed to fainting at the worst of places." Lina was standing at the edge of the bed, she looked like a tall, shadowed figure to me, but I could easily tell it was her voice.

"I-I fainted?" I squint my eyes; it was rather bright in the room from the open window beside the left nightstand. I stretch my arms before sitting up, "How did I get here?"

Lina walks over to the side of the bed and I can finally see her face, "The Prince carried you after he caught you inches from smashing your head into the floor. Just like he did the last two times as well, I believe." She smiles, "I know he is your mate."

My eyes widen, and I felt as though they are about to bulge out of their sockets, "W-what?" I try my best to act like it was not true, or I did not know, but I failed miserably.

Lina sits beside me on the bed, "You don't need to cover it up from me; you know very well how much trust is between us." She giggles a bit like a schoolgirl, "But I say the way the Prince looked at you when he brought you to me, there was no denying it."

"When did you figure it out?" She looks over at me, her head tilted.

"The first time I fainted." Her eyes widen, and her mouth opens slightly. I twiddle my fingers and rub my arm.

"I could have sworn it was longer, the way he acts toward you seems like it has been." She runs out of the room without warning, and comes back seconds later, "This is my mate," She shows me a photo of what I presume is her and her mate, he was a witch, something I have never seen before. Everything I know about mates like that was just from others, "We had been talking for about a month before we got even an ounce close to how you and the Prince are."

I shrug, "I don't feel like I know him all too much, he met me a few days before I did." I finally look up from the ground and face Lina.

She smiles at me, "One conversation is all you need; but besides that, from what I have seen, I could almost say you have loved each other for centuries."

Centuries?! It makes sense when you look at our wolves' history, which I know little about to begin with.
