[Endurance has increased]
[Endurance 13 -> 14]
Jayce was confused as he read the notification. Just to make sure, he opened his Stat Page to see that his endurance was now at 14.
'System, why did my endurance stat increase?'
[Answering Host's Question]
[Question 1, stats are numbers that reflect that certain aspect of your body. By training, you can independently increase that stat but the higher that stat the more training you need to further improve it.]
'If I had known this earlier I would have saved my stat points.'
Heading back to his dorm room, Jayce took a shower and got ready. Putting on his school uniform, he left the dormitory, heading towards the academic building.
Just like yesterday, hundreds of students could be seen walking out of their dormitories in their school uniforms.
"Jayce."
Hearing a feminine voice behind him, Jayce turned around to see Yuko waving her hand. Letting her catch up, they walked to the building together.
"I forgot to tell you yesterday that the headmaster wanted to see you in his office before school."
"Okay."
Yuko tried to make small talk with Jayce, but he would always respond with a nod or "okay". Jayce could feel glares from other students but just ignored them as he kept walking.
Once they arrived at the school, Yuko informed Jayce where the head office was as she went towards her classroom.
Following the simple directions he was given, he easily found the head office.
Knocking on the door, Jayce heard a masculine voice respond from behind the door.
"Enter."
Opening the door, a desk covered in stacks of paperwork. The headmaster pushed a stack of papers out of the way to see Jayce standing at the door.
Closing the door behind him, Jayce could see even more paperwork scattered throughout the room.
"I called you here so you could pick which branch of the Acadamy you want to attend. There is the Engineering Branch which is responsible for crafting new tools, weapons, and armor.
"The Hunters Branch takes requests that deal with dangerous monsters. And the Medical Branch where you make potions and focus more on healing magic."
Even though the headmaster was giving him options, he knew that Jayce was going to pick the Hunters Branch.
"I'll join the Hunters Branch." Jayce had no intention of joining any other branch
"Good choice kid, head down to the testing grounds. When you get down there, Yuko will help you pick a weapon that suits you best. She will also check to see how much mana you have and what elements you have a talent for."
Even though Jayce knew he had no mana, he couldn't tell them he had no mana without explaining the system.
The best advantage he had over others was the system so keeping it a secret would be more beneficial in the long run.
"Thank you, I would also like to request permission to leave the campus and explore the town."
This would be the only way Jayce thought he would be able to use the {Life Absorption} skill. The chance of there being some type of underground society in the town was pretty high.
The headmaster didn't expect Jayce to ask to leave but didn't see a problem with it.
"Give me your ID."
Handing his ID over, the headmaster turned around and put it into a machine. The machine looked similar to those card machines where people would insert their credit cards.
Pressing a few buttons, the ID shot back out of the machine.
"Anytime you want to leave the campus just show the guards at the gate your ID and they will let you through."
"Thank you, headmaster."
Satisfied with his new permission, Jayce headed down to the training grounds. The training grounds were located near the middle of the first floor.
The room was similar to when he had a spar with the headmaster only there were tables set up with many different types of weapons.
"Jayce it took you forever to get here, first things first let's check your mana capacity," Yuko said as she grabbed an orb off the table full of weapons.
"Just rest your hand on the orb." Putting his hand on the orb, nothing happened.
"Um, maybe this one is broken. It should be lighting up no matter how small your mana capacity is, it should even show a color based on your element."
Yuko looked through the tables till she found another orb. Trying it again, the still orb did not react to Jayce.
"I'm sorry but it seems you don't have any mana." Yuko seemed sad at the news.
'Why does she feel sad that I don't have any mana.' He was bewildered as to why she would be upset but disregarded it.
"There's nothing you can do about it, how about you show me the weapons next."
She suddenly became happier as she walked over to the table.
"We have many different weapons from longswords to shortswords, daggers, spears, whips, greatswords, staffs, curved swords, and katanas."
None of the weapons felt right to him, he wanted something that would be able to support his Demonic Synchronization and not get in the way.
He was thinking of maybe some type of gloves until an idea came to him.
"I was wondering if you had any gauntlets."
"We might have some, let me look in the back room real quick."
Running off into the backroom, Jayce picked up a weapon as a thought came to find. Using his skill, a stat screen of the weapon appeared.
[Magical Dagger]
[Rarity: Uncommon]
[A normal dagger that has been enchanted with mana.]
[+3 to Dexterity]
[+2 to Agility]
Jayce honestly didn't expect his Demonic Eye of Truth to work on the dagger. In the skill description, it said that it read the stats of other people, not items.
[The description of {Demonic Eye of Truth} has been updated.]
[Demonic Eye of Truth]
{This eye once belonged to a demon who could see through all lies and deceptions. By putting demonic energy into your eye, you can see the Status Menu of other things with mana, living or not. The rate at which you can see other objects' stats is dependent on how high your Demonic Synchronization can reach.}
'...'
Jayce was speechless at how shamelessly the system went and changed the description. It seemed that the system wasn't as perfect as he had initially thought.
Hoping that he could find a weapon with better stats, he started to inspect every weapon on the table but they were all the same.
"I found it!"
Coming back to reality, Yuko came out with a heavy metal pair of gauntlets. Somehow she was able to barely lift them out of storage and onto the table.
The gauntlets were fully black with dark red lines flowing down to the extremely sharp fingertips. The bottom side was open with comfortable leather straps.
"These are the only pair left in there, gauntlets aren't very popular so they usually don't put them on display."
Out of breath, Yuko took a seat on the floor as Jayce inspected the gauntlets.
[Blood-Forged Gauntlets]
[Rarity: Rare]
[Forged by a decent craftsman who used the blood of fallen allies to fight against the demons. The craftsman had used Damascus steel to safely infuse blood into the weapons, resulting in their dark color and being exceedingly heavy.]
[+10 to Strength]
[+8 to Vitality]
[+5 to Endurance]
Author here,
I won't be uploading as many chapters as I normally do since mid-term exams are this week and next. I will be mostly focused on studying but will at least release 1 chapter. Once Christmas comes around I will start uploading around three chapters a day. Sorry for the inconvenience and hope you enjoyed the chapter.
