VAMPIRE CHRIS

Christian opened his mouth, and managed to utter two words ".... Am sorry"

Christian said as he pulled him close and bit into his neck.

Christian felt the end of his canines elongate as soon as he opened his mouth and sunk them deep into the student's neck, and once again the sweet taste of blood filled his mouth. He didn't know what had come over him and it was as if his body had just taken control, and his mind wasn't all there.

His heart was in turmoil as he struggled to gain control over his body but couldn't, and he kept draining more blood from the student. Surprisingly enough, the student stood still as if hypnotized and didn't even struggle a bit to get out of Christian's grip. A tingling sensation was sent round his body as he felt the blood rush up through and out of his neck. Even trying to resist was fruitless as the bite seemed to have a paralysis effect on him.

They both stood there for quite some time with Christian draining the blood of the other student gradually. The door suddenly flung open once again, and Sam raced in this time around donning a troubled expression on his face.

His gaze naturally fell on the duo on one side of the room as panic filled his eyes. He hastily ran over and jolted Christian away from the other student, making him fall to the floor with a 'thud'. Almost instantly the student whose blood Christian had been draining in the room snapped out of his daze and frantically scampered away from Christian's side attempting to flee the room. Kelsia saw this and threw a punch to the back of his head, knocking him out in one swift motion.

Christian's gaze turned deadly and a scowl appeared on his face as he stared at the culprits responsible for obstructing his meal.

The blood dripping down the side of his lips coupled with his crumpled face and baring fangs made him appear like a terrifying mindless beast whose sole aim was to wreak havoc, and struck fear deep into the hearts of men.

Naturally, Sam shuddered under the terrifying gaze of Christian and took a step back subconsciously.

A stare alone from him was more than enough to scare him shitless and made him want to run far away from there, away from Christian!.

Christian rose from the floor slowly, but steadily, stretched his forelimbs, and gazed deeply at Sam. His eyes held a hint of struggle as they occasionally switched between his vampire red eyes and his hazel brown colored ones. He bid his time and approached Sam slowly, stealing occasional glances at Kelsia behind him, obviously wary of her presence.

Sam retreated to kelsia's side, a safe distance away from Christian in the room, and managed to voiced out alarmingly;

"Christian, what's going on, what are you doing?!"

Christian tilted his head to his side staring at Sam with a questioning gaze, his eyes had stopped fluctuating between both colors and settled on the red vampire eyes. It appears that Christian simply lacked the strength to fight off his vampire urges as it is.

Sam's eyes suddenly glowed a faint red color and he unexpectedly felt himself losing control of his body under Christian's gaze, as he unconsciously began to approach him. Seeing this Kelsia hastily stepped in front of Sam, obstructing his and Christian's point of view.

Christian eyes flashed with malicious intent and he suddenly dashed forward at Kelsia with an impressive speed *swoosh!* aiming at her neck with a swipe of his claws

Kelsia was momentarily stunned by the astonishing speed Christian displayed and was a second late in her reaction to defend herself, however, she tilted her head slightly backward in the nick of time, avoiding the attack by a breath length.

She responded quickly and efficiently grabbed Christian's hand and slammed him against the floor with a powerful force *boom!* as cracks shaped like a spider nest suddenly spread out around the area of impact.

*ke-heok*

Christian spat out a mouthful of blood and shook fervently within Kelsia's grasp, trying to shake himself free but to no avail

Kelsia acted hastily and delivered a final punch to the back of Christian's head and knocked him out flat.

*Sigh!*

Sam immediately let out a breath of relief he had subconsciously been holding in when he saw Christian laid flat on the floor unmoving. He turned to Kelsia and asked

"What's really going on? What's wrong with Christian?"

Kelsia kept quiet for a while and didn't reply to him immediately, as she pondered about all that happened with a small pout on her lips

"Guess you finally have to believe what I said earlier, because from the aura around him now, I can tell he's evolved and he's now a fully-fledged vampire, but what I don't understand is how he was able to hide his aura from me! Even if he was a halfling [1] when I first met him I would have been able to sense it, this doesn't make any sense, how the hell did he turn all of a sudden?" she wondered aloud.

[1] halfling - teenage vampires offsprings within the age of 12 to 17 that are yet to evolve into vampire adulthood

"The aura of vampires are different from that of humans and the color of their aura is red, while that of humans is a bright yellow, there's no way I'll miss or mistake the aura of a vampire if I see one, also the aura around him when we first met was plain dark, so I related it to his dark ability and didn't find it weird, but now, his aura is a mixture of black and red, giving it a dark red color, one I've never seen before" she explained.

She gazed around the room and her eyes naturally fell upon the flask and the ancient-looking book on the reading table, she strolled towards the table, grabbed the flask, and took a *whiff* of it

"vampire blood!" she muttered wide-eyed and turned to stare at Christian on the floor

'this surely doesn't make sense. If he came from the shadow realm then that means he ought to have already been a vampire before arriving here, but now, this flask held vampire blood that has already been consumed, and to become a vampire one has to die with vampire blood in their system before regenerating, making them an undead. So if he truly came from the shadow realm and is already a vampire why the need to consume vampire blood? Or is he planning to turn someone?' she thought then walked towards the unconscious student in the room, observing him closely.

'there isn't a trace of vampire blood in this one's system, so it's most likely not him. Christian what are you trying to do!' Kelsia wondered

"so what you are saying is that Christian just turned into a vampire?" Sam clarified quizzically, to which Kelsia nodded

"then doesn't that mean he wasn't one before you started suspecting him of coming from the so-called shadow realm?" Sam asked suspiciously

"Samuel!" Kelsia barked furiously with a displeased look on her face.

Despite the fact that she currently appeared as a human doesn't mean she was one!, for behind that delicate face of hers was a proud dragon that has lived for hundreds of years, and to suddenly be placed under the suspicion of a measly human and have her loyalty to her master questioned is a big blow to her pride, and Kelsia was a hell of a prideful dragon.

*gulp!*

Sam swallowed his spit anxiously when he saw the displeased look on Kelsia's face

'what's with these two and their frightening stares directed at me today?' he complained inwardly but dared not to utter a single word out.

Kelsia saw the nervous look on Sam's face so she naturally stopped glaring at him

"the shadow realm is a mysterious place filled with danger and uncertainties that even I dared not to venture to, I virtually know next to nothing about the creatures of that realm. But there is a legend passed down around the three realms of this world about a powerful existence from the shadow realm that almost singlehandedly destroyed the entire world in the dark ages, if not for the timely intervention of the celestial realm. That being was said to possess the same dark ability that both Christian and I possess, and that divine being was the only one to ever wield the dark ability in this world until Christian and me. Naturally, I had thought that he was a descendant of that divine being, but what I didn't expect was for him to actually be a vampire! This just confirms his association with the shadow realm more and attracts more trouble" she explained donning a troubled expression on her face that has gone slightly pale from thinking about it alone.

Sam felt his heart tremble after hearing what Kelsia had to say;

'for her to make such an expression! Is the shadow realm such a frightening place?' he wondered as his face turned ashen.

"We might have a chance to just survive if we grow our strength exponentially before they discover his existence, but the problem is I don't know how long it will take before they eventually find out about him, so it's best if we grow our strengths as quickly as possible" Kelsia advised somberly as she gazed at Christian sprawled on the floor
