Chapter Three Hundred and Nineteen

 George POV

Victor left my office, I still don't know what to make of his visit, I don't know if he is sincere or not. I called Aunty Rose to discuss Victor's visit cause I want to know what she has to say about it. Aunty Rose arrived at my office and sat down after I gestured for her to sit down. Did you call for me? She asked. Yes, Aunty, I called for you, I know you must be wondering why Victor came here and also I want to ask you why you did not tell me that Victor came back? I asked her. I did not tell you cause am not aware that he came back, I guess his father forced him out of his hiding place cause there is no record of him coming back to the country, She explained.

Now, that makes sense and it seems like Victor is genuine with his visit here. That explains how you are not aware, he used his private jet, I uttered. So why is he here? Auntie Rose asked me. He said that he need my help, that his father want him to marry Claire Davidson, I told her. I don't think he needs your help for that, I mean it's just for him to marry a beautiful lady and an heiress for that matter, am sure that it will help both him and his father, Aunty Rose started nonchalantly. Cause she hates the fact that Victor allowed his father to be controlling his life, I know deep down Aunty Rose knows that Victor is a good guy but the fact that he allowed his father to dictate his life pisses her off.

But one thing Aunty Rose said now draws my attention. Auntie, I think something is going on we are not aware of now, you just said Uncle Steve lost everything true and he forced his son back to the country to marry Claire Davidson, don't you think there is more to just marriage, I pointed out my thoughts. Aunty Rose looked at me and looked up,  that is to show that she is in deep thought. I think you are getting to something here, continue talking you now have my undivided attention, Aunty Rose said to me urging me to continue with what am saying. Well, Victor told me that he thinks that his father is up to something, just that he doesn't know what it is yet, I told her.

Interesting, I think am starting to like this cousin of yours if he is truly sincere, you know if his father is truly up to something this could be their strategy coming to you with the olive branch so that you will let your guide down and they can strike you easily, Aunty Rose commented. This is exactly what has been going on in my mind since Victor left. I will not say that I did not think about it, that will be me lying but I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, he left everything to be away from his father and find his way but his father still caught him, now he needs my help to be free from his father shackles, I explained to Aunty Rose why I think that Victor is genuine.

Okay, let's say that he is genuine, what made him think that his father is up to something? Aunty Rose asked. Well, according to him, he told me that his father employed more security men in their home and this new set of security team looks very dangerous he argues that his father is acting like somebody that is preparing for war, I told her. Aunty Rose sit back and smiled. If what you are saying is true that means the people he is going against in his so-called war, are no other than you and your mother and trying to force his son to marry Claire means that he needs the financial muscle he will gain from the marriage to go against you and your mother, seem to me like a perfect plan, Aunty Rose said and shrugged her shoulder.

For the first time in my adult life, I saw a war coming to me but I don't know what to do about it. So, Aunty what are we going to do? I asked her trying to hide my shaking voice cause I don't want my mother to face any trouble with anyone, not Sarah cause I know Steve will be coming for her too, which means she has to move in with me as soon as possible so that I can have my eyes on her all the time. There is nothing we are going to do, for now, all we need to do is to keep a close eye on them and I will suggest you have a meeting with Claire to know what her take on the issue, is if she were asked to marry Victor what will be her answer, she advised and suggested.

Her suggestion is not bad at all and I need to tell Sarah what is going on and my intention to meet with Claire so that she will not misunderstand. I think I can do that, I told her. Okay, why we are still talking, I want to invite you to my engagement party, which will be this Saturday, Auntie Rose informed me. That is one piece of information I was not expecting, I was staring at her with my mouth wide open. Aunty, you are engaged? I asked her to be sure that I understand what I heard. Yes, I am engaged or do you think that I will hold an engagement party without any engagement? Aunty Rose asked sarcastically. To Fred? I asked her. Of course, to Fred, who else? She answered.

Wow, I don't know what to say, I uttered, 'cause I am surprised by the news and am happy to hear that she is about to have her own family. Just say congratulations, Aunty Rose said smiling widely. Congrats Aunty am happy for you, I told her. I know you are cause you don't have any other choice but to be and I think you should propose to Sarah already, you are not getting any younger you know that Aunty Rose said to me, stood up and left my office. I think it is time I do the needful and it will also be a valid for me living with Sarah.
