Chapter 1: Part 4

"I take it you wanted to ask me something, Kyla?" I said, stopping completely and facing her. Kyla stopped bouncing and looked at me surprised. She didn't think I would respond to her did I?

"Umm, uh. Thank you for accepting me into your club." She said quickly bowing her head. "It's a pleasure to work with you Mis-"

"Amy"

"What?" She looked at me with disbelief.

"I didn't stutter did I? Just call me Amy when we're alone." I said, giving her a small smile. She looked at me, eyes wide and mouth slightly open. I continued to walk towards The Stations leaving the girl with the same expression. Her eyes followed me until her neck couldn't continue to watch. Three… two… one.

"Are you sure Mi- I mean Amy? Not many people are allowed to call you that and some people don't even know your first name! Did you even smile at me? I'm not sure that this is necessary for me. I'm way below your level in, well basically any class in the world. Not to mention-"

"I'm sure. I admire your personality and hope that I can learn to be as outgoing as you. Mother says I lack that trait so I suppose having you as a close friend that I may be able to pick up a few things from you. Is that alright, Miss. Brown?" I said, looking over my shoulder at her.

"Yes! Of course! I would love that." She told me, slowly getting out of the surprised stage she was in.

"Great! You can meet me at Grace's dorm." I said clapping my hands together. There was an awkward silence between us. James had decided to leave a while back, leaving the both of us alone.

"With all due respect, can't we use your dorm?" She asked in a quiet voice, her head looking down. I eyed her movement, waiting for her to return my eye contact. Knowing it wouldn't come, I sighed.

"Fine. But we have to pick up Maxy and grace first. We can use A.R.I.A." I turned back and quickly walked towards The Room. I grabbed Kyla's hand a little more aggressive than I intended to and started to pull her along with me. When she started to walk I let go and we made it into The Room.

As soon as Kyla and I got into the room, A.R.I.A offered us tea and biscuits, for the Tech Committee, which was the committee that Grace was in, had different headquarters all over the school. They were responsible to keep everything good and running smoothly. Kyla and I talked a little bit, Kyla doing most of the talking, and she started to warm up to me. We were almost at the first headquarter when another person got in. I recognized them instantly as one of the people from the newspaper committee. Her name was Jennifer. As she got in, Kyla and I left the room to walk the rest of the way. Suddenly he appeared.

"Father." I said coldly. I looked over at Kyla and saw that she was frozen in her place, eyes wide.

"Umm, I'll go and um, leave you two be." She told my dad. "Good day Mr. Smithson. See you around Amy." I watched her walk back to the moving room. When she was out of sight, I snapped my head towards him and glared. If looks could kill, he would have died a slow and painful death right before me.

"Just like your mother now are you now?" He told me teasing me annoyingly.

"I'll be on my way if that's all you have to say." Venom dripped from me as I walked past him, bumping my shoulder on his intentionally. Suddenly he grabbed my arm, and as instinct, I grabbed my pocket knife and held it an inch away from his wrist. Threatening to cut it, he slowly withdrew his hand and held both of them up in submission.

"I just want to talk." He told me. I eyed him up and down, then up again, meeting his gaze. It was my eye against both of his. I lunged at him and held the knife towards his throat. I could feel his shiver under my knife. His eyes wide and his face pale. I glared at him and kept my mouth in a neutral line.
