"Yo" *snap, snap, snap
The sound of fingers snapping was reverberating in my head like the beat of a drum.
"Wake up, sleepy head" the sound spoke again
I blink my eyes open, and see the person calling on me
"Finally, you're up" the man? Tells me "c'mon, it's just death… nothing you can't shake off" he speaks as if I have a cramp or something
"Who… and what the hell are you?" I ask the winged man
Now that I take a better look at him, he doesn't look like any being I know. He has white hair and twelve wings. The left are black and the right are white and no two sets are the same… odd.
"Who I am is Dante. What I am is a God" the man, Dante introduced himself, presenting me more questions than answers "but we aren't here to talk about me. We are here to talk about you" Dante said pointing at me
"What about me?" I ask perturbed "did I do something…um…Wrong?" I asked hesitantly
"no, no, just tell me what you remember about your day" Dante requested
I took a moment to look into my memories as I spoke "start from the beginning" he supplied, so I did
"I woke up in my dorm room in my university, like everyday" I begin "I have a solo room with my scholarship as a programmer extraordinaire or whatever they call me" I finish quietly
"Don't like the title?" Dante asks
"I made one" I raise my index finger "ONE, app and suddenly I'm the next bill f*cking gates" Dante looked amused at my outburst "yeah, I hate it. Don't get me wrong I like the women and money, but fame is not my thing man. Not unless I have a private island I can escape to"
"HAHAHA" Dante's laughter rang in the otherwise quiet room "oh I understand how you feel, happened to me too" Dante said as he pat my shoulder.
'He is quite easy going for a god' I thought "anyways, back to my day "I woke up, went to the cafeteria. Ordered the day's special, the pancakes… then nothing" I try to remember anything else but I can't
Dante nodded then snapped his fingers and we were now sitting on comfortable couches across from each other in front of a fireplace "allow me to explain the rest" Dante spoke then waved his hand
In front of us floated what looks to be a hologram screen and it was showing the cafeteria. It seems I took my pancakes to my usual seat and then…
I didn't have a chance to do or say anything else as I threw up right on the table between me and Dante.
After releasing what I assume to be the pancakes I look back at the image of me… my body, slumped on that chair, headless
Dante chose that moment to speak "high velocity, large calibre round" he then turned his head to look me in the eye as I was hyperventilating "didn't even feel a thing… lucky"
"HOW IS THAT LUCKY?" I shouted. Is he crazy? I got my head blown off like a balloon and this bastard calls it lucky
"Did you see death coming? Did you feel your body shutting down bit by bit? Did you feel your blood flood your lungs as your bones tore them apart? If your answer is no to any of these, you are lucky" Dante said with a reminiscent smile
I understood at that moment… it happened to him "i- I'm sorry" I apologise but for what, I don't know
"It's fine" Dante waves it off "I forget you were a 'normal' human" he air quotes normal "for now though I think you know what comes next"
"Reincarnate to another world?" I ask for confirmation
"Yup, but with conditions" he answers
I take a deep breath "Ok, hit me"
"First of all, there won't be any wishing. Everything will be determined by lottery. You will get a system, and the system will have three functions at the beginning" Dante raised three fingers
"They will be lottery which uses tickets you gain by defeating enemies or completing quests. There will be the quest tab, don't worry it won't have penalties. And the last one will be inventory" Dante then paused to see if I have any questions
"Is the inventory like the gamer system inventory?" I asked
"It will be limitless, but it can only hold items gained through the system" Dante explained
"hm, ok. What can the lottery give me?" I continued to ask
Dante smiles and opens his arms wide "everything"
I stare at him as he continues to smile "can I narrow it down?"
Dante shook his head "you can't, but the lottery tickets can. A ticket can be specific as to say sword lottery ticket or as random as random lottery ticket" he shrugged
I thought for a bit if I had any more questions "is there anything I should know?" I asked and by the looks of it, it worked
Dante smiled "a few things, but the most important one, is that the lottery tickets can summon people as well, so be prepared in case that happens" Dante warns "next is that you will be going to different worlds, and it will all be random. To help you out, you will find a starter pack for every world you go to and you will always be able to go back to those worlds. And last but not least, you will get five free spins daily. No they cannot be stacked and they reset at 12 midnight everyday"
I sat there for a moment taking it all in. I'm traveling to other worlds… but I have no choice over it… what if I end up in resident evil, or DOOM… as a civilian
As I was panicking Dante smiled and spoke soothingly "calm down Xander" he said calling me by my favoured name "the first world was already determined. And I believe you will enjoy it"
I looked at Dante quizzically, but only received a shrug from him "if you have any more questions, ask the system. Have fun" he the waves his hand, and next thing I know I'm awoken by the sound of banging
I look around, taking in my surroundings. It seems I'm in a small wooden room of sorts… "Oh, oh no" I dread but then I hear it
"Wake up you FREAK"
